Origins definitely. Inquisition might be worth playing if you really want more of the lore. But it is kind of sandbox-y single-player MMO, filler fetch quest-y.

You could always skip most of it and just play the story though.

I still enjoyed 2, but it's one of those games you could skip and honestly not miss much of the trilogy (kind of like ME2).

Origins is the best (The DLC is good too)

2 is the weakest, but not a bad game.

Inquisiton is good.

Play Origins and if you loved it (plus the DLC) play 2.

Agreed. Inquisition was bloated with way too much filler and the characters/story hidden behind all that crap was pretty lame. Dorian was the only character I really liked in Inquisition.

I would suggest picking human noble (non mage) for a first playthrough. The other origin stories are somewhat spoily imo. They all start in areas that you come across throughout the course of the game, whereas human noble starts in a completely unique area.

2s issues are it's combat and overuse of same areas. Ifyou can tolerate that you will probably like it. Worth playingat least once I think.

Inquisition is fantastic if you ignore side quests which you can to no consequence.

Origins was absolutely fantastic, iffy buggy. The second one was meh and the onlt good thing about that game is Varric.

Inquisition was pretty good but they ruined ally AI in that game and Nitghtmare difficulty is torture in that game since you're fighting the ally AI as much as you fight against the enemies. I thought it actually had a pretty interesting combat system... if they has kept rhe level of AI control Origins had, it would have been a much better game.

Origins is great, but it could be dated by now (its been awhile since I've played it)

2 is okay, but it really is a let down. I'd just recap the story honestly

And Inquisition is honestly really fun, but I'm not even sure if I can recommend it. They tried to cram as much stuff as possible into this game and it eventually comes off as tons of filler. I've been playing the damn game since Jan. I'll put a good 10 hours in and then move onto other games for awhile and then come back. They really could have streamlined the game better but the gameplay is good and the story is pretty interesting.

Its a great series, but not an easy one to recommend

I think Dalish got the most hate because it's only origin that doesn't really tie into the main plot at all.

DA2, DAI, The Novels and the DLCs tried to make it relevant but there's no denying that it's the only origin that has no bearing on anything else in the plot.

I didn't really dislike any Origin (Mage was okay, but could have been way better than what it was), but I'd probably put City Elf as my most favorite.

Human Noble Origin was cliche as all hell but it was still interesting and fun along with them integrating it into the main story very well.

They're pretty much all great. I definitely know the lesst popular is the Dalish one after going online and seeing polls, though. And as it eas my first taste of the game, I definitely see why. Every other one was really entertaining though I believe the human noble one seemed to fit the best. Probably the Mage with the second best fit.

I think the Mage Origin would have benefited (retroactively, of course) from having Jowan be a potential companion like the developers were originally toying with.

While I did think it was pretty good, I can understand that if the Dalish Elf Origin were your first taste of Origins, it might have been a bit off-putting.

Interesting backstory. His personal quest could have been redemption-based. Lots of interesting potential, imo. The exact content of the Origin probably would have been a bit different had they gone through with this, too.

Really? The only mage companions you have are Morrigan and Wynne. Sure, that's the same amount as Rogue, but then you get three base-game warriors, a base-game dog who's classed as a warrior and has warrior-like talents, a DLC warrior, and an optional late-game warrior replacing one of the initial warriors. If anything, Origins is warrior overkill.

Plus, considering that mages are the only healers, you'd usually want one for your party, whereas rogue companions give you...lockpicking?

I guess it's not too bad for me, considering that I always play as either a mage or rogue. I tried doing a warrior playthrough once and quickly got bored. Companion selection must suck for warrior Wardens.
