Do you have to? Who are you having to keep private from? I have cats but they rarely wander into the bathroom anyway. But mainly I ask this about when taking a shower. Do you close the bathroom door when taking a shower?

When it's cold, which is 9 months of the year I keep the door closed. Have to retain the heat in the room. Right now in the summer months I leave it open and just air dry for the most part. Again, in the cold I put on a heavy shower robe, poofy slippers and blow dry my hair before daring to even open the bathroom door.

I still close and lock the door when I'm alone in the house. Better safe than sorry (for whatever possible reason)

For pooping I close the door no matter what. I don't need that smell wasting through the house. For peeing I only close the door if someone is around, otherwise why bother? For showering, I keep the door closed to contain the heat.
