At normal handgun firing distances, the round is effectively lethal no matter where it hits you. The bullet has so much energy behind it that the force it carries on impact is enough to blow out the nearest artery and potentially blow the heart or the brain to smithereens even on a limb hit.

A guy at the gun range let me fire his Desert Eagle .50 once. When my permit was still valid, my carry weapon was a Steyr m40-a1. If I ever felt like getting my blue card in New York State, I'd probably swap the .40 out for the Steyr 9mm knowing what I know now. I fired the Desert Eagle once, fired off a second round, and immediately regretted it. I am not a small man. The .50 cal desert eagle damn near took my hand off with the second shot. I immediately realized it was too much gun for me and handed it back to it's owner.

I really can't stress enough what a ridiculous handgun a .50 cal is. I would rather try to fire a 10ga shotgun from the hip one handed than ever fire another desert eagle.

Yes please. I'm fairly neutral when it comes to gun rights but please stop people treating firearms as a toy of sort.

The irony is how uneducated people are about the NRA. They actually do dedicate a ton of time and resources to educating people about gun safety. But the leftist propaganda basically makes them out like they're some kind of terrorist organization. Most gun deaths are caused by handgun accidents anyway which aren't even the target of most people calling for gun restrictions

Even if the idiot had used a Handgun of Chemistry & Physics (HUGE book -- larger than any Bible I've ever seen), a .50 caliber (the smallest being a .50 Action Express, which can easily have 50% more energy than a .44 Magnum) would still have gone through. And if the idiot had a Kevlar vest designed to stop the bullet from penetrating, the impact would still have created enough blunt force trauma to cause massive damage (cracked ribs, ruptured organs, etc.).
