I want the native community to flourish and have success, but it is a total lie that the non-native community fosters more racism towards natives than the native community fosters towards non-natives (particularly whites).

The vast majority of native people I've met have had fascist levels of racism towards whites. These women are no exception. They don't want success, they don't want respect, they just want free money and everything handed to them. I know full well how awful and "racist" that sounds, but from living amongst native people for the first 23 years of my life, I can say with full certainty that I'm being fair and accurate.

I had to listen to a native politician a few months ago rant about the current state of affairs, and not at any point did he address the violence culture, the drug/alcohol abuse, or the mismanagement of resources found in his own community. Instead he was demanding that the land rights and financial compensation agreed upon in Treaty 7 (signed 140 years ago, before Alberta was a province) to be handed over immediately. This includes all property in modern day Calgary, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat (trillions of dollars worth of property).

Playing the white guilt card is only going to further damage the native community. They need a role model; a native person that finds success by utilizing the resources they have at hand. There are many great, kind, successful native people, but absolutely none of them want anything to do with their ethnic community. What a surprise.

There needs to be a change, the native community is definitely struggling right now. But handouts and land confiscation are not the answer. Good PR is also required so that racist sentiments towards natives aren't grown. The response that these women had during this conference has set back their cause immensely.

This post is exceptionally ignorant and ill-informed. While the woman in this video was acting ignorant to suggest that the non-Indigenous population isn't perpetuating racism is even more ridiculous. I suggest you read the posts on any given youtube video, including the one linked above. Many of the issues found within Indigenous communities stems from colonization and as the oppressors we need to take a huge effort to correct wrong doings we have participated in. Even your post reeks of eurocentric views. Honestly, you are probably so far blinded by the issue that you cannot see the forest from the trees. I highly suggest you read and begin to understand the treaties and how we got into them because you clearly do not. I know you refuse to accept this because of the deep seated racism you have been taught but we are all treaty people/

Already have, including free education, special representation in politics, voluntary independent governance, and miscellaneous special privileges (land use, hunting, etc.). Furthermore, wrongdoings of ancestors have no bearing on the responsibility of people today.

There are reserves like Clarence Louie runs, then there are the ones that just whine for handouts until they're blue in the face (mainly because they're incapable of finding strong, honest leadership).
