I remember in high school and my first couple years of college, that's pretty much the only way people played it wherever I went. And then later on, it's been the opposite - pretty much everywhere I go, people only play with water and drink on the side.

I wonder if that's a collective cultural shift, or if underage drinkers are just more likely to put the beer in the cups since they just want to get drunk and people end up drinking more that way

When I'm with my usual group of friends, we play with beer in the cups. Normally though, like at bigger house parties, water fills the cups.

In the first scenario, everyone usually also has an extra drink to the side that they'll drink while they play.

Beer is gross when it spills and no one wants to drink out of something you dip your hands in and all the garbage on the ball.

Played with beer at first but once the novelty wore off we switched. I do miss chugging and things like death cup though.

Also as you get older you start drinking beers you dont want to dump in a cup.

Which is weird that they still use a wash cup. Habit I guess.

I don't know if death cup means something different to you, but the rule I'm familiar with (cup that ends the game if you forgot to pull it when it was previously hit) still applies when using water

I've seen people do that too. Some people like to dip the ball before they throw for some reason. I always dry it off because I have shitty grip if it's wet

Thats the rule Im talking about. I dont remember playing it after we switched to water but maybe most do, it might have been a house rule to prevent knocking stuff over. Its been a long time since I played.

I mainly mean making it off peoples faces or in their hand cause they didnt finish


Now I kind of want to make a topic to see what other peoples rules are. I once played somewhere where if the ball rolled or bounced off any cup before going in, anything it touched counted.

it should say, wet balls get on the floor and picks up gross shit from the floor.

a wash cup is fine, but after the first time using it, you're essentially dipping the ball into gross dirty water

Not anymore. The only bad thing is that it's through the honour system and you just have to hope people are drinking a good amount from their personal beer bottles.

We always used light beer because of the sheer amount we'd go through.
