That's most definitely incorrect.

Though I really dislike butter on a sandwich.

But I'm Canadian

Well like... what kind?

A grilled cheese, sure.
A BLT? No.
A burger? Nope.

We use it in grilled cheese sandwiches, but that's pretty much it.

We mostly prefer mayonnaise, miracle whip, mustard, etc.

Because butter is totally healthy for you.

Might as well whine about how we don't dunk our food in grease before we eat it.

I've seen butter/margarine commercials here (in America) where they put butter on a piece of bread that's part of a sandwich with lettuce and meats and shit. I'm always like WTF when I see those because I don't know anybody who actually does that.

If you're toasting the bun, buttering it first is pretty tasty, especially if you use garlic butter. Untoasted, though, I'd agree.

I don;t like mayo so I do use butter on sandwiches if they're toasty.

I roast my burger buns with butter like a grilled cheese.

Butter on something like a turkey sandwich? Never thought of it. Sounds good.

Grilled cheese...

What else would you even put butter on? I can't think of another sandwich it would be viable on.

I suppose butter on sandwiches is an acquired taste, or something you gotta grow up around. My exchange family in Germany used butter when they made me sandwiches - I couldn't even taste the butter over the taste of the meat and cheese in the sandwich.

Club sandwich is good. Anything you toast.

though I found it was fine on cold cut untoasted things too. Grew up with a family that used butter for sandwiches.

Time by time, I might besmirch butter on a toasted bread for a golden, flakey crust if culinary tastes demands it. Margarine, however, I will ignore, for it is not delicious, nor as wholesome as the real McCoy according to my diet.

Mostly agree with this. Besides a grilled cheese (which I rarely eat) I can't really think of anything I use butter on anything that I cook. Of course I'm sure it's in things I get that's premade.

You didn't say "I," though. You said "we," meaning you were commenting on American cuisine as a whole, which definitely does prominently feature deep frying.

I hate butter on a sandwich. My mom would put it on there, but it ended up being just a couple of non-spread out patties of butter on the sandwich. It was really nasty to bite into a part of a sandwich like that to find this thick piece of butter. It just wasn't needed in a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
