Yay! Playing is nice.

I like using miniatures, but almost all the ones I've seen so far that I like require painting... At which point I'd just ruin it.

Might just look on ebay and get one off there.

I used to use a dollar-store fold-out chessboard for quick engagements. No shame.

I use whiteboard tiles for the engagements, and typically don't use miniatures for the enemies. But the players use miniatures to represent themselves, and I got one of my players for our secret santa this year.

Normally he just wants booze for the secret santa, but I planned on throwing a miniature and some fancy dice in there as well for him.

Something that has kinda bugged me a bit about games for DnD that I'm curious about how to improve it: making gods feel like gods. Everytime someone brings in a god the god acts in one of two ways, either it is a totally normal guy with a massive bucket of power, or it's a way for the DM/GM to be a dick to the players both of which have very human wants and needs (like, "I want my shit", and "I want more power") Neither of those are that interesting though. So my question is how to spice up the "normal guy with a bunch of power".

So far I have a couple of ideas, both of which I stole from other stuff, of course (or, "inspired by" if I'm feeling fancy).
1. Call all mortals Dust, doesn't matter the name, the title, or anything else. You are Dust, born of dust, and dies to Dust.
2. Any sort of divine act is the equivalent of an atomic bomb, where all spells are simply reenacting the steps that the god took to tap into the echos of the act. The more powerful, or more recent, of which have been sectioned of to higher levels of the church (which is why some spells are straight up more powerful than other).
3. The god will totally do whatever is asked of them, assuming it's not a lot of work for them. Want a title? Go for it, you are the new Pope, Dust. But any acts require more of a persuasion of, "why would I do anything for Dust?".

Anyone have any other sort of ideas?

Make him the bartender. That was how my party ended up talking to God whenever they got lost. EDIT -- Not when I was DM-ing. This happened when I was a player.
