It's a simple solution to making people stop smoking.

Alongside delaying free health care for anyone who gets cigerattes or illegal drugs.

I'd sooner allow alcohol and drugs (the injecting kind) to be legal rather than face one more second of cig smoke constantly permeating every single room of this entire country. From workplaces to malls to restaurants barbershops to fucking airports. No where is safe.

At least in America and (some) parts of Europe, smoking has been made all but illegal in the venues I mention. Not so in Asia and Africa unfortunately. Smoking has actually been INCREASING, year on year.

Because a lot of tax money is spent on health issues caused or worsened by smoking?
Because it smells terrible?
Because secondhand smoke is a thing?
Because people sneaking out for smoke breaks all the time makes things harder for their coworkers?

Obesity costs UK health care, but at the very fucking least you don't blow obesity in someone's face, smoke does. And by your strawman logic, we might as well decrease intake of red meat and not have people do dangerous things like I dunno, drive a motorized vehicle.

The fact of the matter is, none of your strawman arguments will work when it comes to a habit like smoking, which harms everyone else (sometimes even more so than the actual smoker!) unlike all other bad vices, which harm the user and don't infect everyone within a square mile with that putrid smell and risk of cancer.

That's an allergy and not even 1% of people in the US have it. And out of that less than 1% very very few are risk of dying from minor to moderate exposure to peanuts.

Why are you replacing my quote with nonsense? You might as well have included another one with Nintendo.

Sugar, caffeine, cheese, whatever are not like cigarettes or harder addictive drugs.

Millions, billions of people can consume the former without becoming addicted because there is nothing physically addictive about them. Cigarettes, like some of their harder cousins, start creating physical dependence from day 1. Big Tobacco is essentially a legal crack dealer, hooking a bunch of people on their poison and abusing that harmful dependence for monetary gain.

I'm not arguing that only cigarettes can be consumed to one's detriment. I'm arguing that comparing drug abuse and addiction to eating food is disingenuous.

Caffeine isn't horribly addicting?

And from the logic of "I don't want to pay for others self induced ailments" it certainly is a valid point that sugar puts just as many if not more people in the hospital every year.

Soda addiction is more like video game addiction than drug addiction.

Just because millions of people eat sugary shit every day doesn't mean most of them are addicted to it. Unless you are going to argue that anything done regularly or any bad thing not stopped out of laziness indicates significant physical dependence.

This isn't an argument. Look it up. You're wrong. Caffeine is highly physically addictive. People go through withdrawal.

It is not highly physically addictive. Dependence on it does not cause the type of issues drug addiction causes and doctors do not treat it like them. It is insulting to the suffering of drug addicts to put getting a headache after not having your morning coffee for a few days on the same level. And again, moderate coffee and soda consumption with no health issues is a thing. Cigarettes are damaging you from drag 1.

From someone that doesn't care one way or another about this shit thread, you can't really argue against this. Caffeine is very addictive.

Studies have also shown that sugar is addictive as well. It changes people brains so that we become dependent on it and require more and more of it to satisfy the craving. Sugar is addictive and bad for you in moderate to high amounts.
