Yes, they can be chosen for the hotness contest.

Yes for GameFAQS rules, but with some room for flexibility - ie somebody with Striderlike circumstances (appeared in a manga first but it was a joint thing with his game) would be allowed. Ask me if in doubt.

Mid tier is mostly because this was a mid tier week for the events in general (we're going low-mid-high), it's not super relevant for this particular event. Paydowns are allowed for it, as a reference for both you and Eddv.

-Slime's Breeding got shitcanned because lmao allowing an ability written by someone who didn't know the rules to live (the merc itself was pickable still)
-K6 got killed because people didn't actually bother with reading the text before automatically voting he SOLO'D and I'm not so cruel I'd inflict that on anybody. The concept will come back in balanced form for a future version of mercs, probably used by Velvet Crowe from Tales of Berseria.
-Rose and Jack are banned for being the ultimate Stupid Dumb Merc. Not only did they make paydown fever worse but they also could be used to create massive Ten Billion Dudes vs Ten Billion Dudes clusterfucks that get 0 votes.

That's about the full list of mercs on a banlist. Several more got tweaked, fixed or reworked, such as Yandere-Chan and Lightning. For a theoretical Draftmerx 2, the following mercs are on the 'rework or kill' list:

-Harth Stonebrew. Getting killed for sure. He was an intentionally dumb and broken merc and I'd rather not honor a deliberately abortive build made to mock GANON with any further life. He could be reworked to be fair, but I just don't give one shit about Hearthstone and this broken merc.
-Eleonora Yumizuru. Huge rework candidate. Nothing is really broken in concept, the execution is just a huge botch. Status shell too spammable and too good, Session Skills too stupid, etc. Just a matter of fixing to be less silly, honestly.
-Nilin. Memory Mix could afford to have cleaner use cases (as is it's basically impossible to not have a 'dud' option for it ATM and I spent whole days' worth of pondering how to Memory Mix and couldn't find a situation where I was always truly happy with it), and Custom Combos just needs to modify one single ability, probably, not multiples.
-Lightning. Getting reworked for sure. Battle writeup is trash (nerfs her by denying her her actually impressive XIII-2 showings, limits her to only 12 LR moves), all of her abilities except the 'look at me, I'm a Mary Sue!' FF Queen passive and Army of One are trash, and she's unbalanceable in her current state. I tried, and kinda failed in spite of coming up with an OK band-aid.
-Shao Kahn. Very solid build concept but hilariously overpowered in playoffs. Will rework to not break the game in half if you face the same opponent repeatedly. Basically just needs to not have the '50% global failchance' upgrade I think.
-Damus. Pretty solid deletion candidate due to being a boss that dies only to deus ex machina powerups. Bad practice to include those because they're too ????.
-Ansem. Maybe going away because he should probably be replaced by Xemnas/Xehanort. Not sure yet, there might be room for them both - he's a great ability battery but his battle worth is so sorry that it's kinda iffy to keep him around, particularly since he's a very minor villain in the grand scheme of his series. It's like having the Midgar Zolom instead of Sephiroth.
-Ryu3. Deleted to make room for other BoF protags and/or Fou-Lu. Hackwork build that was only put in because Ryu4 didn't pan out and the admin team was rushed.
-Simon Belmont. Terrible build that is going away for Trevor Belmont, who is an olskool NES Belmont but has many more and much better showings, and also doesn't just exist for the sake of an ability so horrible nobody wanted to buy it and the merc it came along with to get the infra it gave out.
-Pokemon in general. Reworked to use a specific anime/movie/ova appearance as a feat source alongside with getting game mechanicky shit from the games so that people have common ground on what the merc can actually do instead of lmao pokedex as far as 'cutscene hype' goes.
-Baiken. Turbo reworked because lmao she's not a 2/week and her abilities are awful.

There's a billion reworks and rebuilds I want to do, but those are all about making mercs better, as opposed to 'fixing' something that is kind of wonky or broken like the above.

Dr. Light is also a rework candidate, I'm just busy writing my next draft for my writing class ATM and also kinda tired. Me and Lopen kinda brainstormed something to fix him and it basically was just 'only works if you win, takes a while to pay off'. His build concept is very solid, he's just super overtuned ATM.

EDIT: Re: EXP audit I wouldn't even bother. like a LOT of W1-20 mercs are rework worthy. There's no point fixing Sora's EXP if he needs a new writeup and abilities for instance.

Also, just to go into this and explain why it's bad because I wasn't just trying to toot my own horn or be snarky, let's go over the consequences of this decision step by step:

-All 7/weeks disappear. They were all picked.
-You're left with 5 6s: Garrus, The Guardian, Quiet, Syndra and The President. These dudes still make mincemeat of 5s, so you randomly end up favoring the top 5 people in the draft order for no good reason. High tier becomes a wasteland due to this.
-The following 5s are all that remains: Talion, Strider, The Player, Solid Snake, Fake Assassin, Rudy Roughnight, Ramlethal, Kasumi, Jim Raynor, Jill Valentine (lmao), Killer 7, Alyx & Dog, Jaina, Dragonborn, Ashley Winchester, Aatrox. That's 16 5/weeks, total, to spread across 8 teams (or more). The artificial scarcity of 5s makes for a very dull and predictable draft where the better 5s are rapidly snatched up and mid becomes a wasteland, particularly because several teams will be fully unable to fight back against whoever got the 6s and then pays 'em down.
-The 3s pool suffers similar contraction, though it's big enough to survive it. You still end up with a severely reduced and unfun pool - one that may not even be able to support 8 teams, at that.

It's not even slightly worth it. It's not that it 'could be fun' and might not be - it literally cannot be fun because the draft becomes a by-the-numbers affair where your first three or four moves are already spoken for. We need more mercs to draft, not less.

I have actually thought of it and without a major rework im not really interested in a DM2.

Ive gotten bored of these builds and the strats that go with them - even the more creative ones like me and Lopen.

It needs fresh mercs or an overhaul of certain rules to get interesting again.

And frankly the effort that would go into that might be better spent on slowly assembling a chassis for M5 as the votals for this have sort of fallen off a cliff (including a largish pool of mercs ready to go from the beginning)

First of all, my name is FFDragon and I am the advocate for the reigning, defending, undisputed Mercs Hotness Champion of the World, Terry Bogard. Last time he did it all by himself, taking down thirty-five other combatants with his banana hammock alone to come out on top as the sexiest side of manmeat in Mercenaries history. And this year, he's going to strut his stuff once more to bring home another Golden Thong to put on the mantle. And this time... He's brought backup:


First is another one of clients. One of my longest in fact. She was my third purchase in M1 and my fourth purchase in M3. One of my regrets in M4 is that I could never work her back into things. Until now. Welcome back to the team -- Lara Croft.


I thought about building Terry a harem, because, well look at the guy. But I feel like the ladies (and some gentlemen) deserve more eye candy as well. And since we have one sexy tomb raider, why not a ruggedly handsome one as well? Nathan Drake, strut your stuff.


Rounding out the M4 crew, I was going to go for a tried and true succubus, but it appears that Morrigan is actually already owned. But you know, that's just fine, because while she doesn't have crazy bat wings I know of another succubus that has twin drilltails instead and that should be good enough. Don't let Catherine eat your soul while you ogle her.


And finally... My wildcard pick. After some digging around, I was going to go with Alicia Claus from the little known 360 game Bullet Witch (she's even been in Playboy!) but I didn't feel right about leaving out what I consider to be the most attractive video game girl of all time. So I'm going familiar and bringing back an old client of mine that got screwed out of M4. Though she did quite well for herself in M3 and really should be given another shot in a future version. She's hot, she's got a nerdy side (she cosplays as Lightning sometimes!), she's the gal with the mitochondrial smile -- Aya Brea.
