I hate the generic "sludge/garbage" world

Ocean if the swimming/boating is done improperly

I was inclined to say Arctic/Ocean for the ubiquitous control fuckery which happens. But I can find great examples of both of those with ease.

Volcanic is the one which stands out to me. More often than not it's the "We're going to restrict your movement to a tiny path" area thanks to lava and fire. That or the "Have fun stopping constantly to avoid jets of flame" area. Either of those is worse to me than just relearning the controls for a bit.

Desert, because usually it's an annoying maze of going to the same areas where they all look similar so you have to remember if you want to get all the hidden goods.

Also, they're usually large af, I hated desert areas in The Last Remnant

Never was a fan of the tropical island/beach/ocean theme. Probably my least favorite. Mostly because it's so small scale and there's nothing cool off in the distance. Just a flat expanse of water and little islands with some trees and wooden huts at most. Deserts are flat but they still tend to evoke a sense of huge scale with cool stuff off in the distance and the novelty of having a very large land-based (i.e. traversable) playspace as opposed to miles of literally flat and featureless water.

Arctic

I've always hated snow/ice/winter. Not only the elemental factors in it, but also just the look. It's flat and uninteresting to look at.

It's the one thing I hated about Skyrim

Desert because they're usually massive with nothing in them except hidden treasures located in tiny areas you can't find without a guide. Forest is kind of boring too.

Platforming: Snow/ice areas and desert areas.

RPGs: I never really liked desert too much as an environment because they are typically just nothing but sand and rocks for miles around.

I love deserts, but i also live in one.
