Never played it before, saw that there was a Re:Start server or whatever going on so I figured why not.


And I am totally lost. Took me forever just to figure out how to get my first job(Decided to be a thief). Now I'm trying to figure out how to level up without guessing whatever or not a particular creature will kill me or not.

If you're leveling a thief just go south of Morroc and keep going south the higher level you get

Official rates are brutal so you're going to be grinding for months unless you find a guild

I played it a couple years ago. Didn't like it much. It was too directionless; we were just wandering around killing bears. And by that, I mean the party archer killed all the bears while the rest of us, who didn't pick the broken class, just sat around doing nothing (and/or dying to bears).

RO definitely asks that you know where to go to level up, but you shouldn't be dying much like that if you know where to go. It's definitely a very very oldschool MMO, but not that punishing if you have a FAQ/Info guide handy.

The difficulty wasn't even the biggest problem, though. There didn't seem to be anything to do except grinding exp. No plot, no quests. Did we just miss all the content somehow?

The plotty stuff kinda starts as you level up. As I recall there's a bunch of storylines - the story of the alchemical biolabs where great heroes are being cloned, the royal conspiracy, etc. etc. etc. But the early part is grinding yeah.
