There are two numbered levels. 8-1 is a dark grassland level, 8-2 is a dark desert level, reprising the themes of the first two worlds. Was the original plan for there to be 5 more numbered levels with the themes of the other worlds before the castle?

There are the encounters levels if you get pulled by the hands, and the tank stage, and a bunch of other shit. The W8 Fortress is also insanely long. It has a timer longer than any other stage in the whole game. Bowser's Fortress is also really long.

So even though there are less levels, it takes more time to complete than places like World 1.

I realize this, but the fact that a) the numbered levels start a pattern but don't finish it, and b) they're on the only world map in the game that only fills up half the screen implies that there's some unfinished business here.

Anyway I'm happy with the way Dark World turned out, even if I still P-Wing "that stage" to this day....

If you save your P-Wing for Bowser's castle there is a cheat thing you can do to turn off his fire breath.

My only complaint is that, if you've beaten every level in the game up to that point, you're left being one card away from getting extra lives.
