That was basically how my mom, aunts, and their friends were with babysitting, cooking, rides, clothes, food stamps, etc. when I was growing up. If you needed something that someone you know didn't offer, chances were that someone they knew did and it brought more people into the community. Money pools were also a big thing.

It's getting by, and I probably wouldn't be where I am today without it, but I honestly couldn't live like that at this point.
