As Canavero explained it, the full-body transplant will involve going into the spinal cord of someone with a spinal injury and cutting out the injured segments of the cord. The donor's cord would be cut to perfectly replace the missing portion in the injured person, and then the two healthy stumps would be fused together. Canavero plans to attach the cords using polyethylene glycol (PEG), a common laboratory tool used to encourage cells to fuse. Canavero simply refers to it as "glue."

He said he will soon complete this transplant procedure with two humans — a Chinese national who remains anonymous and a brain-dead organ donor. The head of the former will be attached to the body of the latter.

The full procedure is called HEAVEN, short for head anastomosis venture.

Proper name for it since the patient is going to die.

Does this mean a surgeon can potentially make like that one episode of Tales from the Crypt and swap his unfaithful wife's head with that of her lover's?

That guy is going to die.

The dude has a rare and incurable degenerative disease, he's gonna die soon either way. At least this way he'll go out in a badass way.

But this is old news, I don't know why it keeps getting talked about, must be slow news days. Especially since the entire medical and scientific community is like just like "dude you haven't even gotten it down right with rats yet, there's literally no way this will work." and obviously anyone with a brain should be able to tell you this isn't going to work for a variety of reasons.

Head transplants have been performed on dogs, monkeys and rats by surgeons, although all the animals were unable to move and died shortly afterwards. I mean they can transplant the head but the thing dies pretty much right away. And that's even just with rats and shit. They don't make it very long at all after if they survive at all.
I wouldn't really consider that a success.

We will forsake our countries...we will leave our motherlands behind us and become one with this earth. We have no nation, no philosophy, no ideology. We go where we're needed, fighting not for country, not for government, but for ourselves. We need no reason to fight. We fight because we are needed. We will be the deterrent for those with no other recourse. We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. We will sometimes have to sell ourselves and services. If the times demand it, we'll be revolutionaries, criminals, terrorists. And yes, we may all be headed straight to hell. But what better place for us than this? Its our only home. Our heaven and our hell. This is Outer Heaven.

It's such a headscratcher

So much good gameplay but the story meanders, has little focus and yet so many little details and seeming dead ends /pointless bits. There is no clear message to take away

Like for example, Venom turning around to see Skullface tip his hat as Venom walks into the camera. IIRC this is the last real appearance of him and I'm not sure if he's even mentioned by name after that, just "Cipher still bad." The idea of Skullface's ideals being somehow parasitic to MB or some shit gets dropped and replaced with Venom ~ Big Boss, maybe, I dunno, it makes no sense

Alot of naysayers iit.

I say do it for the sake of curiousity alone. Failure or successful, i thibk this is an exciting concept. If it succeeded it can answer alotcof question from medical to philosophical question.

Like how and where consciousness actually reside? Will it be the donor or the recipient's consciousness? What makes the person? Etc
On the medical part, then it might be possible to transplant even more organs, or new way of preservation, etc.

Fuck people saying this guy crazy are just too afraid and slaved by social norms and taboo.

I'll always stand by the fact that the end twist ruined MGS V

There was no real reason for it outside of being a twist. Anyone who claims it needed to be told "to explain how Big Boss survived MG1" obviously never played MG2 because they already gave an answer in that which caused less problems than the Venom Snake twist honestly.

The procedure only has value if it's realistically plausible that it could work. This surgeon is not going to answer those questions, he is going to end 2 lives.
