Neclord has challenged Cadence to a fight! Location of the fight: Zone 1- An underground cave on a single floor consisting of several small rooms connected by narrow passageways. Access to other floors is blocked off and no enemies are present. Attackers will start at the entryway, with defenders at the exit. Which side will win?

Guidelines
- The fight will occur in real-time (like an FMV sequence). Gameplay mechanics are less important than how the characters would function in a real-time environment.
- The members of each team are ideal teammates capable of a pre-selected plan of battle.
- "Broken" refers to a lot of things, including insta-death, auto-effects, a variety of status effects (e.g., Imp, Silence, Stop, *not* Poison), and revival. Unless stated otherwise, nobody has them, though do use your own discretion.
- There may be SPOILERS from all of the games the characters are from.

Rules for Voting
- Bold your votes (using bold HTML tags).
- You do not need to require justification for your vote, though the admins reserve the right to disqualify votes in the advent of obvious alt voting and other similar scenarios.
- Leaders cannot vote for their own teams, but they are free to argue their case.
- If you want to switch your votes simply bold the change; there's no need to delete your post, though you may if you wish.
- This match will end in 2 hours or whenever one side gets 7 votes, whichever is later, to a maximum of 6 hours.

Neclord is as seen in Suikoden II, with all of his attacks shown in Suikoden I and Suikoden II. He retains his extreme resistance to damage from non-holy based magic and weapons from the Moon Rune, as well as any attacks seen in the gameplay granted by the rune. However, he will lose these resistances if struck by the Star Dragon Sword and cannot otherwise use the rune for curses or anything else.

Cadence is as she appears in Crypt of the NecroDancer, equipped with a titanium Longsword and Broadsword, plate mail, magic torch and shovel. She has come to battle with the Star Dragon Sword.

Neclord will be able to smoke Cadence, blast her to smithereens with his spells. Neclord is a handful for a full party of S1 or S2 members and Cadence probably wouldn't even rank as one of the better cast members of either.

Arguably she'd even be sub-Hix and Hix sux

I don't think just being able to use a sword is enough to hack it solo against Neclord. Viktor is a skilled swordsman wielding the SDS is both of the Suikodens Neclord is in and he couldn't reasonably handle Neclord alone without substantial back-up.

I guess I'm a little more lax on her movement mechanics than most, and I don't think an FMV environment screws her over, but to state the obvious, getting her character upgrade improves her battle use a great deal. Those spells are pretty good for a 1/week!

Like Cadence doesn't even have that great a build here or anything, the plate mail is nice - but otherwise she's just a generic sword user without the ability to force the timing of the music, the intro literally says that everyone said she was too young and needed more training - before she accidentally fell into a pit. She's got gumption and she does end up killing some pretty badass monsters but she doesn't even have a normal sort of endgame build that someone might have in order to do so

What WOULD people value Cadence at when using her ability?

@Paratroopa1 Momentum Mori (Start of Battle) - Once every five weeks, the Necrodancer may steal the heart of everyone in the match and infuse them with magic. All mercenaries in the match are now forced to move to a steady beat like Cadence does, unable to stand still unless they are attacking, on penalty of instant death. This doesn't mean the fighters need to maintain a rhythmic movement, and has no effect if they're been held against their will from in battle attacks (immobilizing abilities will explicitly be given exceptions in the write-up as needed). The mercenaries are aware of this.

if the characters actually needed to maintain a rhythmic movement, Cadence suddenly becomes amazing (because I don't give most mercs credit to be able to move to the beat while fighting, so they just self-destruct)

but as the ability is currently written, it doesn't change much. it's not hard to remain in constant motion.

honestly doesn't sound like there's any good way to make her much of a fighter at all. instead of going for the home run type of ability just make something where you're just consistently happy to have her.

the simplest way to make her useful is to make her a pure support, make Momemtum Mori single-target, and make it so that they need to actually move to the beat or die. enjoy your KO on most mercs

there are more creative things you could do, but that's an easy fix

Hm. The PS idea could work. Her other ability could be Obsidian Shrine, where her attached merc gets parameter boosts the longer they move rhythmically.
