I've seen shows like that with washed up celebrities, but usually every reality show has an extremely homogeneous cast.

Big Brother is built on this concept, although the last several seasons have been pretty homogeneous, mostly 20- and 30-year-olds.

Some of the older seasons took people from crazy different backgrounds and they FOUGHT like CATS and DOGS. Season 10 comes to mind -- they had an 80-year-old marine corps veteran, a 50-year-old woman, a bodybuilder who went on to join TNA, a champion bull rider in the gay rodeo, a Catholic school teacher, a Hooters waitress, a preacher's son, and an outspoken black woman, all forced to liv together in the same house for three months. That was the plot of The Surreal Life, except with celebrities. Big Brother also does this (albeit much more subtly). There is also Trading Spouses/Wife Swap, which essentially does the same. Oh, and The Real World.

Y'all are only treading the surface of what I'm imagining. Even the closes the example with that BB season is only a few feet into the shallow end.

I want gritty real people.
