Do you agree that the fashion industry/media portray Caucasians as the most "beautiful" to the world?

South Korea's first black model is a rising star in the country and ranks of the fashion world..but he's not so welcomed there as he faced widespread RACISM!!

16 y/o Han Hyun-Min is a star on the catwalks but his agent knew that making him a model in an ethnically homogenous country will be difficult..but he's becoming a regular and appears on glossy magazines but suffers the legacy of discrimination against "mixed blood" Koreans!!

His agent, Youn Bum said "A Dark skinned fashion model like Han was unheard of in South Korea, so recruiting him was a big gamble."

South Korea has for years tried to set itself as a modern, sophisticated and tech savvy nation whose pop culture has made popularized across Asia and even North America..but behind this advanced nation, it has deeply rooted racism even as immigrants are propping up making up 4% of the population.

Han said "When i was playing with other kids at school, some mothers whisked them away from me, saying things like Don't Play with a kid like that"

He has a nigerian father and korean mother and was regularly stared at in Public with one woman asking what he was doing in someone elses' country..

But he found his passion in fashion taking part in modelling auditions and posting his photos on social media until someone spotted him. Youn Bum contacted him and asked him to demonstrate his "stride" and was blown away and signed him up immediately which has helped his confidence.

At first many magazines didn't want him because they didnt' do "dark skinned" models unless they were White, Blued and Blonde haired models..

But others found his look unique and charismatic and took him in as he had a good combination of both Asian models and Western Models..

A government survey showed that 25% of South Koreans do not want a foreigner as a neighbor, far higher than 5.6% in the US and 10.5% in China.

The south has a growing number of foreign and multiracial figures..but almost all are Caucasians whose looks are favoured because they are deemed "beautiful" where the fashion industry and media has pushed a narrative that caucasian people are "perfect"
Han wants to become a role model for multiracial children but wants to be successful not for himself but for others like him whom he wants to represent..

Do you think it's true that the fashion industry/media pushes the narrative that Caucasian people are the most "beautiful"?

Han -

Yeah, because when you're not asked to be born but are and if your parents happen to be two different skin colors you deserve to be discriminated against and not be able to hold the jobs or positions you want to in life.

You're such an amazing and nice person, it's no wonder you are so successful in life and don't have to spend your days being a hateful little troll on a dead message board, operate a website no one of merit will ever care about and spend your days thinking of new ways to peddle your mentally handicapped friend in a place no one respects you.

You did indeed stab me in the back. However, you are only level one, whilst I am level 50. That means I should remain uninjured.

When I lived in South Korea, black people definitely faced significantly more racism and hate than other foreigners. Knew one girl who I saw a grandmother just burst out laughing at her, pointing at her face and she said that was fairly common. I also saw a bar that stated that no black people were allowed in because of the Ebola breakouts around the world at the time, which is just absolutely ridiculous.
