And I don't mean hating specific people for their specific qualities. I mean generally hating a group of people for the stereotypes associated with that race.

Was curious to get your opinions on the matter. Met a white dude today who really hated other white guys. I just tamed the fire of that conversation by telling him that it's usually white dudes that end up as serial killers.. Pleased him well enough and he moved on without instigating further conversation.

There's like internalized racism, but I wouldn't really call it that for the situation you described.

Racism is when you hate a race from a position of power, so it doesn't really work if you are on an equal level with the ones you hate. But if you're especially powerful among your race then it could work. That's why the Chappelle clip works at least.

Racism is about hatred of the other. Period. Is someone without power who calls someone a jigaboo, or some other slang any less racist because they have no power? Absolutely not. And serial killers come in all shapes and sizes, everyone has the capacity for being shitty.

In general foolmo wasn't talking about the individual power of someone, it's societal power. But this can go around in circles all day on here, it's done that before.

It's quite possible to internalize societal and institutionalized racism against your own race, yeah. Which is unfortunate because it often just affirms the racists' belief, in the "even THEY can see it!" sense.
It's also possible to be homophobic and homosexual, transphobic and transgendered, etc.

I don't really know enough about the situation you described to comment on it though.

Generally speaking, if you feel guilty about your skin color, you've got internalized racism (of the "bigoted based on skin color" sort, not necessarily the "societal discrimination against" sort, just so we're clear)

You can have beliefs against your own race that are functionally identical to racists not of your race. Practically all racists have an idea of "good ones" anyway.

The core idea behind tribalism (of which racism is a type) is the belief, either conscious or subconscious, that your group is superior to others. So, feeling that your group is inferior to others doesn't quite fit the definition. Self-hatred is a term what I have heard used to describe those feelings

BKSheikah correctly guessed which years are more popular than others on this video game website. Congratulations!

I've never seen it put that way before. Very interesting.

What about when you see another group as being superior to yours, so you try to ally with that group against your own?

Yeah it is literally semantics beyond that point so it doesn't matter that much

The only problem is if you are desperate for the definition to be one way so you can call yourself "not racist!!!!"
