Current Events > Would it bother you if it turned out human beings were artificially created?

It seems to be a running theme in Sci-fi like in Star Trek TNG, Mass Effect Andromeda, Prometheus etc where this a plot point that it turns out some other beings or aliens created us and that we are "not natural" or whatever the hell that means.

And everyone gets really devistated and philosophical about it.


Maybe it's because I'm not that religious but I've never really understood the issue. Say God poofed us into existence 250,000 years ago or we evolved from Monkeys slowly over time, or aliens from a far off planet made us in a test tube for reasons we don't comprehend....

What's the difference? We're here now, human history is the same.

But that's just me, would it bother you? To know that some kind of other being, potentially just as falliable and mortal as you created human beings like you might create dinner?
