I don't think this will actually help. I mean, the fundamental question is whether you value research higher than the suffering of animals. Because if we're being honest, there will always be suffering. Lab protocols can minimize it as best as possible, which is what the IRB is for, but it'll always be there. I doubt many who oppose research on monkeys would change their opinion due to seeing the types of surgeries my old lab would do, systematically destroying parts of their brain. --- =E[(x-E[x])(y-E[y])] ... I mean, it doesn't matter, the damage is already done, one of the most prolific and important primate neurophysiology labs has shut down their work, more-or-less. Want to know how the signal we get in-vivo in humans in the fMRI actually relates to the underlying neural activity? Too bad, that work has been significantly stalled.
