Huge argument with my dad, he was going off, cussing us. It was fine until my mom started arguing back and he got really riled up and was making my cousin cry and blaming everything on him while accusing us of wrongfully blaming him instead.

We kept telling him to shut up, but he just got louder and started threatening us. I got fed up and grabbed his belt, and whipped him across the legs with it like a dumb ass. >_<
That escalated things of course, and he was threatening to blow my brains out. He came at me to attack me and ended up knocking my mom around a bit when she stepped between us.

Long story short, we're currently at a hotel tonight. Unsure if its safe to go home tomorrow.

Doesn't seem like you messed up at all in my opinion. Sounds like he was asking for it and it shows you won't be pushed around. I don't condone violence but abusive parents deserve it. The most important thing though is that you and the rest of your family are safe so staying in a hotel is for the best.

Yeah, but your mom wasn't violent first, was she? Those details aren't important here. Your dad is clearly a violent asshole and I don't even blame you for getting fed up.

My mom tested our pastor and he suggested getting the police involved, at least as a heads up if we need them tomorrow. Since I struck first though wouldn't I be the one in hot water? I told my mom to do what she felt was best, but she didn't contact them.

After years of abuse I'd say that's justified. Everyone has a breaking point. Different situation for me but not unrelated so I can understand to some degree. Don't blame yourself though otherwise you're giving him a green light to continue his behaviour.

I know, I wish he had just gone on and died back then. My cousin thinks it's all his fault, and was pretty upset. My mom keeps saying it's not my fault too, but idk, this wouldn't have happened if I just restrained myself.

We gotta be out of here by 11, and my mom is gonna swing by from work on her way to the other site, and I guess take us home at least till tomorrow evening. I'm worried about the dog's though. Hell no dude, he's a violent and unstable man. Has he not threatened to kill you on multiple occasions? Difficult to top that.

Currently at home, dads at work still. Everything seems fine, dogs are all ok. The only problem is that some of my cousin's clothes were in the yard, not sure if my dad threw them out or if a puppy dragged them out after my dad left.

Mom is currently contacting different places that can help people find homes. I have a feeling though that he'll come home in a bit and be real nice and sweet for a day or two then go off again in a couple of days. I told my mom to record him in her phone for evidence and she agreed. Not sure if we're actually staying here tonight or not, there's not really any place we can go except the hotel again.

Think I'm just going to avoid him for a while, he rarely comes in my place, so as long as I don't go outside when he's home we shouldn't see each other.

When she was texting my pastor, he was actually meeting with a member of the church who works for the sheriff's office. I told to stop texting and call to talk to him, but she didn't. If the police do end up involved, which is unlikely I think, I'll be honest with them.

I'm not totally sure, but he seems to have a problem with kids. He loved my brother, and always treated him special. Once I came along though, he treated me awful and blamed everything on me, and was very abusuve physically and mentally. However, once I was grown and we stopped living in the same house, he mellowed out a ton. He'd still have his moments of course, but it was a thousand times better.
Now my cousin is living here too, and it's started all over again, except it's al, focused on him and anyone that defends him. He's never physically hurt my cousin yet, but he's doing everything he can to mentally torture the kid. We're all almost at the breaking point I think.
