Hi Scare, instead of snap voting someone who is idle can you please give thoughts on the day so far? There has been a lot of good discussion, some of it involving you, and the best way to prove to people you are town is to give perspective which seems to be a common complaint against you - that you aren't being your usual, town Scare self. Thoughts on my Oddity case with the perspective that I am scum? Thanks.

Then you regurgitated the same 4 names in the same order he posted them and your defense of that is you are trying to see if they are his strongest reads.

When I got into that argument with plum about whether town should follow their town reads blindly or strike out on their own, I thought that felt like classic Town plum. I recall that when I used to play with plum, he would be very willing to get into abstract arguments about mafia strategy, and whether he was right or wrong, it was just something he tended to do a lot. And I felt he was more constrained as scum. So that made me feel good about him.

Not sure if anyone has any thoughts about that.

I put him on the scumish list. Meaning I have no real reason to find him scummy I just read him that way.

Maybe I should explain myeslf. Me and Chris have a history. I have duped him as scum and he has duped me (more of the latter, really because there's only one example of the former). So for Chris, I always default towards scummy, just because he's a scary player that can dupe me. However, if Chris is town he's extremely good at reading these kinds of things and picks up on logical inconsistencies. Just because I put somebody on my scum list does not mean I'm going to stop listening to them. I listen to everybody so that I can justify their actions in my head.

Within a minute I ask him to name 3 games I have fooled him in (because I like asking snap questions)

I'm current up to about 2 or 3 hours ago. But I've been meaning to do this for a long time. I wanted to do it last night but I was tired, low on time, and not certain I was thinking correctly.

TLDR: I think Oddity is town and Death is scum.

Tom, you've waffled on me a bit so far. Let's see if we can clear this up. At the beginning you thought I was kind of scummy. Midday yesterday you weren't for pushing me or Chris. This morning you thought you spotted a scum tell from last night and you thought I ignored it.

Let's start there. You claimed me slipping in politics was a scum tell to butter up the crowd. I wasn't trying to butter up the crowd. I was trying to be funny. Apparently it didn't work very well, but it was also wrong to bring in politics to this zone.

Let me tell you what my strategy has been for most of the game and then come back to exactly what I was trying to do here.

Early on I noticed something I thought Chris was setting up. Still not giving specifics. But, I realized a Scare lynch train was coming. I read Scare as town with bad reasons. So, I thought it might be a good chance to catch people jumping onto him. I watched for my biggest guts to vote Scare. Then I'd vote them instead. I was waiting for Death, Leo (who dropped off my list cause Red replaced), LoLo, Dowolf, and Phoenix. None of them voted Scare. Except Dowolf, who I think really meant to vote Scept. I no longer thought the Scare lynch was useful for me. So I tried to close it. That's the point of the post with politics. Maybe that'll help you understand that point and maybe it won't.

But you're probably more concerned at me appearing to ignore you. I don't know what to say other than not scum here. So I thought I'd show you. That's part of asking about Oddity. I wanted you to see what I saw. But I also knew I was off. And I was wrong about my read about Oddity, not about him being town but about why he was changing votes. I was pressing a little hard, because I didn't know if you had to leave for work and I knew I'd be leaving soon too. I was hoping to get a little validation before my Death vote.

So, Tom your line about how Phoenix was sort of there,

This I thought immediately applied to Death. But at the time, I was still waiting for the Scare lynch train to start. I almost voted Death anyway. So I put that on hold. By the end of the Scare train and Oddity blowing up, I'd lost time and energy. But now I can be more clear about this. Death made 32 posts prior to your quote above. Until he pressured Phoenix about the VI post, which I barely call pressure because he just basically said the vote was weird and Phoenix didn't stick around to defend it. Ok fair point, but even if you count all of his Phoenix posts as useful, that's 6 posts and ultimately he felt less sure on Phoenix. But more than just not being useful. He felt present and UNORIGINAL. Like he was just there agreeing on LoLo being weird and saying things like Where's Scare or Plum or LoLo? It was being mostly active and not contributing much ORIGINAL thought that felt like a scum tell to me.

Finally I like Oddity (need a new post for that). I got to use my plan for the Scare lynch on the Oddity Lynch. Add the bandwagon and unoriginality early on despite being active and I think he's the best D1 vote so far.

Still only caught up to like page 7 or so.

Ok, I was asked about why I don't like the Oddity lynch. I got a good feeling from him early on. I was wrong about him being flighty last night. It came off that way to me, but that was incorrect. I've gone through and read like his first 60 posts or so. These are all of the ones up to #150 in the new topic.

Chris has three points he wanted me to look at.

1) Their unnatural interactions (the supposed lie about leaning scummy on Chris and Chris beating him 3 times).

Here I never understood how being wrong about how many times he lost to Chris is bad? He lost really badly to Chris at least once. Couldn't there have been other games too or did Oddity and Chris really only play like 3 games together? One each as scum and then both as town? Now he supposedly didn't mention feeling scummy about Chris in the past game. But we all act a bit differently every time. Maybe you set off a red flag for him and maybe not. But I think this really falls into point 2.

2) People think his case against Scept is weak.

It is weak, but Oddity consistently said this is day 1 and that he thinks Scept is the scummiest but it's D1 and that's mostly meaningless, i.e. he doesn't think his argument is that strong either. Back to point 1, when he said he leans a little scummy on Chris and also said he think he's less scummy than Scept who he doesn't actually think is that scummy just the scummiest, how scummy does he really look to Oddity? Yes that sentence is intentionally confusing. I think you've all been chasing Oddity in circles here. Basically he thinks Scept is the most likely to be scum. But that could be only something like a 60% chance and Chris could be like a 52% chance. That might not pop in a read on the previous game.

3) His votes and unvotes look weird.

Again I don't think this is that bad. He's using his vote to try to get information or just leaving it on his top suspect. He didn't understand Phoenix and Scare and used his vote to try to understand better. Each time when he felt like he understood better and that their posts weren't scum tells to him he switched back to his biggest gut which has always stayed Scept

Going to try to catch up. But I have my kids at home waiting for me. I don't think I'll get to do a big in depth post again tonight. I will be able to read along though even if I can't sit and go back and reread like I've done for the last 2 hours.

Basically Pez Oddity stated that he always leans a bit suspicious of me to start but in M4 he didn't just do this as a blanket statement - he was quite clear with his reasoning.

It feels less like you are feeling 'good' about Oddity and morel like you are just making things up to feel he might not be scum. It's kind of absurd, really.
