I'm curious

It does, but maybe not in such a prominent capacity. There needs to be an actual separation of church and state, but I'm not against people practicing in what they believe (violent extremists excluded, of course).

Yeah, I know a few people like that. There are probably a lot more, but only two are at least willing to admit it. Anyway, I'm not a fan of religion, but I'm glad there is at least something acting as a barrier against their impulses.

and part of that is to be comical, but actually part of it is true when all you do all day is leauge of legends and wish you were like DoubleLift, call him a god
dream about being him or playing with him
watch him every chance you get

this is your whole life nearly
this is a religion whether people want to admit it or not

I've seen people on this very board say that the only thing keeping them from killing, raping, etc is their religion.

So yeah, it still has a place in the world.

I think there are certain aspects of religion that a lot of people still need.

Some can be done away with, some we already have, but it'll be a long time before society could get through suddenly losing those belief systems overnight without there being a...problem.

Once gone, the same role will be quickly taken over by social causes and identity politics.

It has a place in personal life and in communities.

But it definitely has no place in education (sans religious education, obviously), government, and policy.

That distinction needs to be made clearer.

That's the problem.

I'd like for society to move in such a way that losing religion doesn't give people dismay. That's not a good mark on religion - that's a bad mark on human psychology.

Nope. We'd be better off without it now, no question. Thing is, religion is most people's life itself. Like, that's it. So, telling them to stop is understandably not something that will be taken kindly.

Politics and shit make leaders want to go to unjust wars, not the common man. Nothing but religion could make suicide bombers and shit.

Any sane person should know that there's literally no reason to feel any emotion or pay any attention to what they do. Religion is not one of those reasons.

Religion will always have a place in society no matter what anyone does. Religion was and is just a tool to help humans understand the world around them better, same thing with science. The belief in man and the findings of man is just as much a religion as believing in a God or Gods.

Absolutely. Religion in the past and present Islam has been used as a tool of control. If you look at Shintoism and Buddhism today, they're pretty harmless. It's part of worlds culture with traditions are celebrated by of all races.

Religions for the purpose of control and oppression has no place in society, but religions that teach people moral values does. Without it, you'd have a lot of bored people in this world, more criminals and societal degradation.
