I'm fairly certain our new kitten doesn't know how to meow. He's about 3 months old, but we've only had him for a week.

He's very affectionate and playful, and understandably still a little weary of his new environment.

But this lil fucker will nottt stop hissing. He will pur and hiss at the same time. His body language doesn't show a lot of stress/fear. He'll hiss as he's coming over to be pet.

Obviously, when you start talking about kittens this is all anyone wants. It's basically universally understood that you don't post about cats, especially kittens, if you don't have pics.

Growling, hissing or spitting indicate a cat who is annoyed, frightened, angry or aggressive. Leave this cat alone. Our other cats meow a ton. The tortie chirps more than a bird, I swear.

We think the kitten may have been taken from momma too early.

Some cats just do that. I have a stray Bengal that comes around that I feed and kind of take care of.

He's very sweet. His greeting is to squint his eyes (meant to let you know he's being submissive) and then hisses. He then purrs and rubs on you. He does this every time.

Wow, my car Felix had almost the exact opposite color pattern. She was a weird one too, she's actually talk to you if you talked to her. I'd come home from work and say "hey Felix and she'd respond with a meow. And I would ask her how her day was and she'd meow. This could go on for as long as I'd talk to her.

My puggle likes to run full speed around my yard for a solid 2-3 minutes after she takes a shit. My other two dogs just look at her like she's a jackass. My youngest Rott will even bark at her

I had a cat that had issues meowing. She would force air out of her mouth and it sounded somewhat like a hiss. If she tried hard enough she could manage a little squeak at the end if it. She could hiss like a normal cat though. She never actually learned to meow properly even when she got older.

We had a full grown cat who could only mew like a kitten. He only made a full-blown meow once, when he was growing up - he scared himself so much he jumped a foot in the air and never did it again.
