Yeah, or some short stories. His short stories give you his strengths and takes away his issues with not ending the story quickly enough.

No. Books are for fools, why do we even have books anymore? Everythings online, should just close down the libraries and recycle all that shit.

Because I am fueled by hate, and I enjoy making other people as miserable as I am.

I actually enjoyed reading The Stand, though. Even if it is endless and somewhat overpadded.

The Stand is by far his best book, and my favorite of all time, but it's not always for beginners. It's over 1000 pages. But if you do have the courage, I would recommend it.

If not, I'd say go with The Shining, Salems Lot, Pet Semetary, or Misery. Or some of his short stories.

But to answer your question yes, you should check him out. He's my favorite author.

I loved it. IMO it's probably his best of the past decade, maybe even 2 decades.

Also, like usual it has some big connections to past books, especially IT.

Firestarter is a very good book to start with.

The stand is great, but yeah, might not start there.

For a short story, his The Long Walk (under Bachman) is my favorite all time short story.

The shining is good, but the movie was great, so you might not need to read it.

It was also quite good, they are remaking it into a movie/mini series (already been done but the first time blah).

The Talisman isn't bad, and is more fantasy oriented.

I'd hold off on the Dark tower series tbh, it's not for everyone, especially some of the books.

So many of his books where made into decent movies with great soundtracks as well. I love reading the Stand for instance, but the mini-series was just perfect for me. Loved the sound track for that, for maximum overdrive and a few other of his adaptations.

For the most part all of his older stuff is worth reading at least once.

Most of his novels suck, but he's got decent stories in his anthologies. Granted, practically all of his stories have been adapted to film -- albeit not always faithfully -- so you might want to focus on a story that hasn't been turned into a movie or an episode of a tv show. The Long Walk is one example.

To be honest, I call it a short story as I originally read it in a collection of Bachman books which listed it as one of 4 (I think), short stories. Might have only been 3 (or they re-released it with just 3 and removed Rage).

I have a digital version that I read now, so never pull out the original (didn't really like The Running man, Rage, or ....was The Raft in there as well?) The raft if it was in there.

So yeah, it's kinda long but it was initially called a short story and I just stuck with the description.

I've read the Dead Zone and the one where the kid and his mom were trapped in a car because of a rabid dog. Forgot what that one was called.

I enjoyed the Dead Zone very much, but the other book was kinda lame

Cujo, and I never liked the book or movie myself.

Few others I didn't really like either, but for the most part I liked all his early stuff. Everything after his accident has been meh for me though, but I have not read many of them to be honest.

The dead zone was made into a movie and then a TV series as well.

I believe I saw both, but remember almost nothing about any of them (book, movie, or shows).
