I can't think of many.

Sin and Punishment seems to be one. They released a sequel but as far as I know both games flopped

The Wonderful 101 seems to be one too though I suppose that was just a Nintendo published game but for the sake of this topic these may as well be included.

Eternal Darkness as far as I know was a success but the studio mismanaged it and it's dead

Geist was Nintendo right? That is well and truly dead and didn't go anywhere.

I guess Nintendoland too? Not sure if they intended that to be a new minigame franchise.

Days of Ruin didn't even get a real release in Japan because the sales were projected to be so terrible that they wouldn't cover distribution costs

Yeah those are both good examples.

I wonder why they never released Disaster: Day of Crisis in America too.

Not a franchise. Plus it didn't fail technically, it sold as much as Viewiful Joe and Okami did.

Was Codename Steam developed by Nintendo? That game had so much damn potential ruined by some poor design choices.

Indeed it was. By the Fire Emblem devs.

It's a shame that it didn't take off at all.

Boktai had a sequel right?

Any game that encourages gamers to go outside isn't going to work. I mean, I'm pretty sure the cheats section on this website and a thousand other places point out you can just use a UV light to avoid it.

Boktai is Konami, specifically a Kojima game.

Startropics was actually developed by Nintendo USA back when they did things other than be corporate mouthpieces for the Japanese EAD division.

But to answer your question, Earthbound failed miserably. Despite the series being extremely well liked by fans, these fans clearly have no money to buy the game. And no it's not just a "DEY DIDN'T LOCALIZE MOTHER 3" thing because the Japanese didn't buy it, either.

Brain Age died.

Punch-Out!!! is pretty much done too.

Star Fox, despite the recent release of Star Fox Zero, is more or less on life support.

seems like a Nintendo problem there because I didn't even know DX existed until it popped up on the E-shop and I was like "what the fuck is this?"

I'm not sure if any of those were Nintendo developed, only Nintendo published. Could be wrong.

They've just ran their natural course I think.

Brain Age was absolutely massive. Like it was a huge success.

Punch Out! was one of Nintendo's first big hits. I'd say the originals are pretty iconic. But there's no where else for it to really go and I think ARMS is the final nail in the coffin for the franchise.

But neither of them failed at all. They were huge hits. There's just no where else for them to go these days.

Advance Wars needs to come back from the grave...

It does. But that is unlikely to happen when Nintendo is forcing IS to solely focus on Fire Emblem.

They COULD make it work, especially as a smartphone game. They would just have to market how Advance Wars is similar to Fire Emblem but with an exciting and modern twist to it.

Although I dislike the free-to-play model a lot, it is the only shot Advance Wars would really have at this point.

And even then, it's still unlikely to happen since Nintendo smartphone games tend to be high budget and making an AW game would divide their FE: Heroes playerbase.

Brain Age ended up costing a lot of money in the long run because they got sued over false claims that the game could do things like improve memory and lost really hard.

That's why there hasn't been a new one in a really long time.

Wouldn't have been any good if they did. Rare was already declining in quality when Nintendo let them go. Nintendo dodged a bullet.
