"It's different because hunters don't use the animal!" isn't even really a defense, because a) some hunters will absolutely eat the kill or otherwise make use of at least some of its parts, even aside from whatever they're presumably keeping as their "trophy", and b) because plenty of processes that use animal material aren't necessarily all that efficient and throw out most of it anyway. And then that's not even getting into just how many animal habitats and ecosystems humans destroy on a regular basis to build homes or farm crops. Or inhumane living conditions most stock animals endure for most of their lives. Humans are pretty much the worst thing to ever happen to animals in general.
