I'm looking for absolute pants shitting dread.
For reference only movie I've ever found scary is Kill List, so something comparable.

Scariest movie I've ever seen was the first 40-45 minutes of Lost Highway (1997).

Also, tag.

I still think The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time. It to me is the most realistic possible depiction of what encountering a demon would be like.

The Conjuring was much better than I thought it would be. Haven't really been scared by modern horror movies.

The first child's play will always be one of the scariest to me. I've always hated dolls. There is some good practical gore too like the shock treatment scene.

Also try the house on haunted hill remake. Especially the psycho chamber scene

If you haven't seen it already, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on Lost Highway. I'm not really a fan of the latter 2/3 of the movie, but as I said earlier ITT, the first 40-45 minutes are possibly the most unnerving thing I've ever seen in a movie.
