Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

Spoilers:
The premise of the movie is that White people kidnap black people so they can steal their bodies with hypnosis so they can achieve black peoples good qualities, the moral of the story is supposed to be "even positive racism is harmful".

I personally dont care about the odd nature of the movie, I mean its a comedy/satire after all but my friend cant seem to rap his around the idea that if the roles were switched then there would be national outcries of "racism". He's instead really focused on how well that wouldnt work the other way around because culture/such&such.

I just dont like the double standard the movie creates, as does other media such as "Dear White People."

I mean if there was a Dear Black People, then shit would erupt from volcanos and we would never hear the end of it.

I actually think it would be less controversial if it were the other way around. People would see it as some allegory for being a black American or some shit where you're just trying to be white.

Do you want to know the real reason in my anecdotal experience? All the black people on my facebook feed were going in droves to see that movie because it somehow proves to them that white people are out to get black people. I generally like these friends ion person, but I can't stand the dumb shit they post on the internet.

Ummm I got some bad news for you dude...

I think this sounds like an incredibly stupid plot regardless of whoever is what race.

There are so few good comedies in 2017.

2016 was way better.

I think the fight was the only decent comedy this year so far and it's what? August?

Edit: not that it matters, they could completely swap out either or both chars race in that movie but the movie would suffer because it was so obviously built specifically around those specific actors regardless of their race.
