(80/80)

Making a singular, individual movie in between each Batman movie, each special in its own way.

The Prestige (beautiful): in between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and Inception (instant classic): in between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. You rarely see directors take breaks like this, especially in between big hits, or between super hero movies in general (if you even want to call TDK trilogy that)

I think that theory is flawed because he didn't make an amazing trilogy. He made an amazing duology with an acceptably sufficient ending tacked on.

Even then, Begins aged like cheese, in that the cheesiness gets stronger over time... I don't think it's possible to blow Thomas and Martha Wayne any harder than they did, for starters...

This. I don't know what it is about Rises, but that movie just doesn't do it for me. It's not bad but it's just not that good, and I don't even know why. Begins and The Dark Knight are both fantastic though.

Rocksteady's Batman, ironically enough, had the same problem. Arkham Asylum and City are both perfect games, and then Knight is just.. bleh.

I will agree Rises is clearly the worst one, especially the second half

Rises soured me on Nolan and his movies since have continued to disappoint, that said he is one of our few interesting modern auteurs and I hope to see him at least keep trying new stuff.
