I only watched an episode or two, but I heard fans didn't dig the adaptation.

I never watched it, I heard they changed quite a few of the main characters in some unnecessary way, and like only the first episode was at all based on the books.

Bob had a physical actor portraying him, instead of just being a skull with lights and a voice.

Murphy was brunette and not short enough.

Don't remember much past that.

The wait for Peace Talks is fucking killing me.

Re-read Aeronaut's Windlass and I'm thumbing through one or two of the Codex Alera in the meantime, on top of starting up the Anita Blake series.

I fucking love Butcher's world-building. The Knights and the Coins are just such an awesome concept.

Oh yeah, for what's basically just a supernatural murder mystery series at the start, it's got some really well thought out lore.

Butcher is great at world-building. And he'd had the series planned out as 20 books and a "shit hits every fan" trilogy since day one. Said trilogy's books being titled "Hell's Bells," "Stars and Stones," and "Empty Night" in whatever order. Probably gonna be ten years at least before that comes around.

I mean hell, Codex Alera was basically written as a dare. Someone told him he couldn't base a book off a lame idea, he basically said "Fuck you, give me TWO." He got "Lost Roman Legion" and "Pokemon," and wrote a fantastic series.

Lets be honest here, Dresden is a shitty wizard with powerful friends. Like, I legitimately get the feeling anyone on the high council would destroy him.

He admits that regularly.

He's in the top twenty or so when it comes to straight brawls, but McCoy could magically crush him in seconds, Listens-to-Winds could drop him, and the Merlin's wards could stop Dresden's best punch like ten feet of steel.

Unless he's physically on Demonreach, he's a really powerful thug.

The books haven't progressed enough to show his full potential. The whole "starborn" thing with him and Elaine.

Mhmm, I'm really curious to see where things go. My brother in law and I agree, too, that what we know of the council is the tip of the iceberg, because nobody wants anyone to know how strong they are.

Mhmm, I'm really curious to see where things go. My brother in law and I agree, too, that what we know of the council is the tip of the iceberg, because nobody wants anyone to know how strong they are.

It's only shown up a few times.

McCoy dropped a satellite on a Red Court stronghold and also killed 200 men with two waves of his staff (Only possible because he's the Blackstaff, but still).

He also straight clowned Lara Raith in Proven Guilty. If Harry hadn't called him off, he'd have torn the current strongest White Court vampire into chunks small enough to fit in a backpack.

Listens to Winds went toe to toe with a naagloshi and won. Admittedly, Morgan killed one, but he had to literally nuke it.

The Gatekeeper hasn't put out any real measurable feats, but the dude is in charge of guarding reality against Outsiders. I assume he can throw a punch.

The Merlin held back a horde of Red Court vampires AND some Outsiders with ONE ward. Plus there was the time in Proven Guilty where he created, outlined, and broadcasted a plan to deal with the mordite in the space of time it took Harry to go "Oh FUCK."

Yeah the Senior Council is fucking nuts with some of their feats. Dresden will be near that level someday I'm sure, he is still young compared to them.

I think Butcher at one point said he's going to break every law of magic at some point in the series so that'll be interesting. Also, he'll probably be the new Blackstaff at some point

With the way he packs on power, I'd give it like 3 books before he hits that level.

Especially if one of my theories is right:

When he's going PARKOUR over crystals in the first chapter of Skin Game, he happens upon the one that just "sounds British." I am convinced that it's either King Arthur or Merlin himself. If it's Merlin, Harry is sitting on a fucking treasure trove of magical knowledge.

Not even including his "kid" born from the parasite It's like Lash is back, but she's outside of Harry and not trying to tempt him. That :little girl" spirit is probably one of the most powerful beings introduced thusfar. I'll put the Ladies of the Courts, dragons (Ferrovax, who I hope reappears soon), Odin, and fucking Uriel himself above her, but she's an advisor instead of a fighter.

Basically that whole concern Harry had about letting Molly meet Bob hs happened to him. He's gonna have a hard time ignoring his "daughter," and she probably makes Bob look like an idiot.

Also, thoughts on what happens to the two Coins that are now in Hades' custody?
