Like, any action movie with Bruce Willis that's set in the present must necessarily be set in a universe where Bruce Willis doesn't exist. Otherwise that character would be walking around and everyone would be like "wtf you look just like Bruce Willis"

But then you have to think like, how would the universe be different if Bruce Willis never existed? How many lives and events have been influenced over the years by Pulp Fiction, Die Hard, Fifth Element etc etc?? The butterfly effect implications boggle the mind! For all we know, a world without Bruce Willis could be a world much darker than we know today.

This stuff keeps me up at night

Hahaha I've thought about this as well. Sometimes I try to make the excuse that maybe they just happen to look like them but no one ever notices. And so their work can still exist in that universe.

Ryan Reynolds exists in Deadpool, at least the magazine featuring him at the start implies so. So does Hugh Jackman despite also being Wolverine in that universe. Of course, Deadpool is the series where you'd expect something like that though, so not sure if that counts.

I fixed it, I'm on my iPad and suck at digital keyboards. I tend to hit the I instead of the U.

Who says they can't? Almost all TV shows and even movies use the actors to play multiple characters who are all unrelated. Who says the actual one doesn't exist?

I mean, I suppose they could...I guess "necessarily" was a strong word in the OP, but I mean the problem still stands that the fictional character would likely often get confused with the actor in the world

There was a joke in Suite Life of Zack and Cody about Maddie looking like Ashley Tisdale, so there's that.

Not always. Some people look like other people. In passing I doubt most people would notice.

That part was even more terrible than Scott Caan's "acting".

I think this is why it's kinda jarring for me when celebrities make cameos as themselves in movies and stuff
