I don't know how accurate the last statement is, seems overly optimistic:
To Priem, the future looks open. “In the next few decades, we’re going to be seeing nearly all the literature available freely.”

You say that like it's a simple thing.

It's not. Like, morally, yes, it should be free. Pragmatically that's hard to implement, especially without crippling researchers even further in the current funding environment by shunting costs onto them.
