Given how weak most of the mythology episodes were in the last season, I'm not disappointed -- it'll just be odd going straight to MOTW episodes after the cliffhanger (IIRC, didn't aliens show themselves to everyone on a bridge?). Anyway, the MOTW episodes tended to be way better last season, so concentrating on those -- and hopefully showing as little of Joel McHale as possible -- get a thumbs up from me.

I'm guessing the opener and closer will be the mythology eps. Hopefully they show that William was in the UFO immediately so that it isn't dragged anymore. It's also confirmed that that plotline will linger between the leads, but at least we'll have (hopefully) awesome MotW eps to make that part tolerable

I don't like this. The mythology episodes in season 10 didn't get panned because they were mythology episodes, they got panned because they were mediocre episodes. And the standalone episodes didn't get praised because they were standalone episodes, they got praised because they were good episodes. The solution should be to make the mythology episodes good as well, not to eschew them almost altogether.

The mythology has been convoluted shit since s6. Oh yeah, Cigarette Smoking Man is also confirmed
