I really tried to like it, but damn were people right. This show is just awful. First of all, Danny hardly ever even uses the Iron Fist, and when he does it's really underwhelming. The whole subplot with Davos starts off ok, but just completely falls apart at the end. Harold was just a cheesy coporate bad guy, nothing we haven't seen before. The first three episodes or so are just about Danny trying to prove his identity and it's just really repetitive and boring. They also do the stereotypical superhero plot of "is it ok to kill people" that they already did with both Daredevil and JJ, and it was handled better in both of those shows.

Also, what the fuck was that scene with Joy and Davos at the end? So apparently Joy wants Danny dead now. They really never explained that. She was on his side for like the entire series and then just does a hard 180 just for a little stinger at the end of the finale.

Shoutout to the guy who played Ward though. Idk his name but he gave a great performance. Is he in any other stuff?

The characters were my biggest issue with it. Everyone's motivation seems to constantly change, but they don't provide enough reason for them to do that.

It would've been so much better with Ward as the main character

Or if they gave actors more than 15 minutes to practice for action scenes

I didn't mind the action scenes, or mostly dumb characters, what I minded most was Danny touting so proudly almost every episode that he has no emotions because of his training, then spending the entire rest of each episode crying about something. Plus he really just felt like the guy who went in a journey of "self discovery" and tries pushing everyone he meets into listening to him brag about his experiences, while he blatantly ignores everyone else. He just felt so childish and whiny, completely unlikable as a character imo.

I really hope he's not a huge focus in the defenders, or that they at least straightened his character out for that one.

^Agreed. Iron Fist makes way more sense as a series if you assume Danny accidentally stuck his hand in a vat of toxic waste to get his superpower and then completely made up Kun Lun and his monkhood.

Overall, I ended up liking it a bit but the awfulness of the first three episodes are stuff of legends. And the guy who played Ward couldn't deliver his lines to save his life.

That's another big issue. For someone who claims to be so zen Danny sure is emotional

He was pretty much the only thing I liked about the entire series. I hope he gets picked up for bigger and better productions.

Ward was the only redeeming thing. When he thought they were spying on him through his computer camera and he gave the middle fingers to different angles in the room I fuckin cracked up

Also, that asian chick was cute as fuck

Everyone seems to hate the show and I have a lot of things to criticize about it, like so much. But I'd also gladly watch a season 2, 3 and beyond. So I dunno what to say.

Show would have been better if it was about Iron Fist Davos going around and beating ass.

Like a stylish ode to old school martial arts films. That would kick so much ass in more ways than one.

But honestly how bizarre at the posts praising Ward when he was awful. Just hilariously awful in his weird acting. Honestly this entire entire series has a weird surreal feeling to it (especially with Faramir) not sure if intentional or not. For me personally I feel it has a so bad it's good quality to it. I just wanted to see where they are going with all this.

A lot of people complain Danny isn't muscular enough to be the iron fist. I personally find his goddamn stupid beard to be way more annoying. Even after the haircut he still doesn't shave the damn hobo beard. And that permy hair ugh I want to punch him in the face because of it. It's a way bigger problem than the body issue for me.

I think Ward's actor did the best with what he got. He's clearly above most of the cast in talent, he just got a particularly shitty character.

Everyone else has the exact same problem of lousy scripts, but Ward's actor is the only one who talks... really... weird like. I don't know how to describe it but most of the time it comes off incredibly stilted.

I was going to attribute it to him being a puppet controlled by his zombie dad the entire time and never once having had an original thought of his own in all those years.

#teamWard

Best Ward moment is when he smashes his hand in a car door to go get opiates to sate his heroine addiction. What a cad, that Ward.

Danny feeling like a stoner man child is probably the most common complaint I've seen and it was a big part of why I dropped it. I just had zero motivation when people told me he doesn't get better.

Ward was falling apart. He always presented himself as being better than Danny and being able to lead the company, but inside he was very insecure and feared his father. He was also shocked by the return of Danny and was also struggling with his father's insane demands. Ward is supposed to sound stilted, unsure and awkward because he is all of those things. He is the only character who goes through such a wide character arc, especially when you compare him from the first episode to the last one. To me, that shows his actor has great range.

Like I asked in the OP, why the fuck was Joy wanting to kill Danny at the end? That literally came out of nowhere. Was it because he went against her father? She actually confronted Harold about framing Danny which made it look like she was on Danny's side, but then at the end she's hanging out with Davos. Why?

I HATE how they couldn't decide if Danny was supossed to be a cool wisecracking bro or DISCIPRINU WARRIOR-CHAN.

Almost as if he was bipolar.
