When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself.

Didn't learn it until I started making friends in my neighborhood as a kid and one boy and his family would say it constantly. I asked my parents what the word meant and it was just a word we were never allowed to say in our house.

Either Music or my friends. I don't remember. Probably music. Also my Parents never said that word. I say from time to time but not often. I say it depending on who I'm around.

im curious, with ur parents not allowing u to say it in the house, do you end up saying it alot casually or do you rarely or never use it?

probably on tv, or something.

network tv would have shows that would say it sometimes, in one of those episodes where they were showing how racism still exists, and how bad it is.

I think Rosanne had one of those.

I can't remember when I first heard the a variant. Probably when I first got to middle school and hearing it from kids my age was a bit of a culture shock.

The er version I vividly remember hearing from Roots.

I say it casually amongst 2 of my cousins, and when I do I still dance around the term. Other than that it's just a word I seldom use.

My parents did not use that word or curse in front of me, in general.

I think this topic would be ALOT more interesting if was addressed to non-black CEmen.

Spent most of my childhood in a small suburb. Didn't meet a black person until middle school.

I heard my granddad say it when I was 4 and then after he left my dad told me to never, ever say it and that it's a hurtful word but didn't really explain what it meant. I didn't find out what it meant until the second grade

I've always heard it and even used it up until middle school. After actually hearing it use in racist context, and listening to people replace every other word in their sentences with it, I stopped and tell family and friends not to refer to me as such.
