Can you go back and replay stages to get the chaos emeralds? I'm halfway through a Sonic playthough and only have 2...

Yeah it works exactly like Sonic 3 & Knuckles did. Once you beat the game you can just start Green Hill Zone and just get the emerald, quit, start Green Hill Zone back up and go from there.

I finished it with all seven Emeralds and started a new playthrough as Knuckles. I thought I'd go for all the gold medals from the sphere stages, but eh, screw it.

You only need silver medals to unlock all the extra stuff anyway. Gold is WAY too hard >_>

Thank goodness. I don't know if it's just me but I feel as if the special stages are extremely well hidden compared to S3&K.

Also, chemical plant zone is one of the most overrated in the series. Nostalgic music but frustrating level design.

I actually think Act 1 is pretty cleverly designed, even if it is ripped straight from Sonic 2

The Oil Ocean act 2 boss is straight kicking my ass. I can dodge most of its attacks, but when it pulls the platforms down I jump at the wrong time and insta-death at the bottom.

In the beginning, you can get like 4 free hits on it. After that, try to just focus on the turret ball things if you're having trouble holding onto rings. Then finish off the head
