I'm on Chapter 5. I've been struggling to play this game and I've owned it since launch. The cast is bla, the story is bla, gameplay is bla, there's no crafting which is bla.

Please tell me this gets better somehow.

The last section is actually pretty good despite the fact that large sections of the plot are missing. It actually benefits from being more linear.

The entire mid game is kind of the same level of quality though. So if you don't like it now, then you've got a lot of the same to slog through. The last few chapters are all over the place quality wise though.

I had the most fun chapters 3-8. Sounds like you just dont like it. It's definitely mediocre but the grinding of the hunts and leveling novelty didnt wear off for me till then. After that i just wanted to finish it as soon as possible.

Hunts were super fun in the beginning but then felt not as rewarding. If the game had a crafting system maybe.

Right now I think I'll just plow through the main quest line. Maybe I'll pick up FFXIV after and try out the new expansion.

I liked FFXV but if you're struggling now it only gets worse.

Just hit Chapter 8. If I stick to the main quests, how much longer do I have?

There's 15 chapters, total. Although, 14 is actually the last one. "15" is just the post-game save that unlocks more areas for beating the game. And chapter 14 is just the final dungeon, that's it. The game pretty much ends at chapter 13.

The whole game's story is terrible. The combat is kinda fun, and the game is really pretty, but it's like Sophitia from Soul Calibur II said: "All style, no substance."

Might as well soldier through it just to say you beat it.

I loved hunting monsters while riding my chocobo around. The main story is kind of lame and chapter 13 is awful.
