The VGC format is SM Standard (v2017) which means 4v4 Double Battles with Item Clause. Only Alola Dex Pokemon are allowed. Zygarde, Nebby, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna and Marshadow are banned. Mega Stones are banned as well.

Since 2013, they have always revealed something during the opening ceremony like Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Slowbro and Crabrawler. They will probably do that again this year with something USUM related so keep an eye out for that!

Surprised no one has even talked about this piece of information that was reported by Serebii:

During the Pokémon World Championships Opening Ceremony, it was revealed that Kommo-o will have a unique Z Move which damages both opponents and is an omni-boosting Z Move called Clangorous Soulblaze. They also confirmed Red GX Pokémon coming as Ultra Beasts in tghe Trading Card Game. We'll bring full details as they come so be sure to keep checking back
Edit @ 17:44: In addition to this, GameInformer have been allowed to exclusively reveal a new mode in the game, the Alola Photo Club mode where you can take photos with your Pokémon with vrius poses including Z-Move Poses and then edit them with decorations, lenses and more

Personally I don't even know what I want from USUM

That they've shown almost nothing of substance in the time we've known about the game and how close it is to release gives me little confidence in what we're gonna get.

It's a strong Z-move, but I doubt Kommo-o will be worth much in OU given that it has no use right now and its Z-move is easy to okay around when you know it comes, similar to how Polygon Z is super predictable. This attack actually hits unlike Z-converation and hard too, but it can however be blocked entirely. Kommo-o will definitely move out of RU though and possibly into BL.


I read a theory that the current Necrozma form is actually the armor to what is its real form, which would be this substance of light we're seeing. And that Solgaleo and Lunala's real forms would also be the new ones, but they had shred their armor to seal away Necrozma. Thought it was cool and surely plausible.
