I love this game

I'm playing on the Vita and it plays great
The music is wonderful

So far I'm killing enemies to get more HP but I'm sparing about half of them let's see where this goes

Don't listen to everyone. You can play however you damn well want. People just get butthurt if you don't follow their style.

Part of the fun is finding stuff out on your own. You can always go back on the next playthrough to find out what happens when you kill X and what changes if you spare Y.

I've seen that many people who a neutral run don't want to start the whole thing over to do pacifist, which is a tragedy since the neutral ending explains nothing and isn't even supposed to be an ending, more like a checkpoint. And thus they complete only 1/3rd of the game thinking they've "beat it".

Yah I kinda figured I messed up when one of the bosses chastised me for killing a siren enemy earlier (it was pretty sad, she said that she had just learned how to sing or something).

But I started killing because I wasn't sure how to get past the prologue mother figure without killing her?

I played it late 2015 and I'm still listening to certain tracks on a regular basis. The music is so good.

Just thinking about it in this topic and I think I'm gonna pick it up on my Vita. Seems perfect for this type of game.

TC you're fine. i did the same thing my first run. just be sure to play it one or two more times after. at least 1 run without killing everything.

i played it 3 times in a row and loved it each time.

A neutral route in the actual game doesn't give the feeling of shitting on the player nearly as much as the fanbase does.

This is why I'm at odds with that portion of the fanbase. I'm willing to enjoy it for what it is, and enjoy the varied AUs involved as well. I cannot and will not get involved with the negative portions.

Undertale has the distinct honor of being the only thing where the fandom drove me away before I ever touched the work myself, and before I could even *think* to reconsider, they double-downed and I swore off the game for good. (Just as well, seeing as one of the things they did was spoil the whole goddamn thing anyway.)

On my first playthrough I thought it was a decent indie Earthbound type of game. I'm on my second playthrough right now and it's making me enjoy the game a lot more after making different decisions.

Also, fuck off Undertale fanbase. Why must you try and ruin the experience of a game that you love for everyone else?

This is so interesting. I'm not one who minds spoilers too much, but it does seem odd that some ppl consider the neutral route "failing" especially for a first playthrough.

I also had no idea the fanbase had such a negative reputation lol. Is it because the game appeals to a certain demographic? a lot of the anime jokes were going over my head (something about a "tsundre plane" i had to google, for instance)

btw Dummy! is my favorite song so far. It's such a cool jam lol.

It's a common thing for a fan base.

Little know "underground" thing gets a following a grows in popularity. Because it is somewhat "niche" it really connects with some people and they like to hype it up to the moon. Eventually you have a group of people saying it's the best thing ever over and over again, annoying people who don't care or just thought it was alright and boom. "Toxic fanbase."

The thing is though, everything popular online has a "toxic fanbase". A lot of people are annoying, so if something blows up and gets a huge following, chances are a good portion of those fans will be annoying. Ever game, tv show, movie, whatever.

Easily ignored. People would literally enjoy everything more in life if they don't buy into hype and keep their expectations in check.

The real problem imo are idiots who spew garbage like the neutral ending is "failing". Idiots. Pure idiots who think that only one way of playing is pure and the right ending. The correct way to play Undertale is to fucking play Undertale. I'd always suggest a replay (or two) if you really enjoy it to get the full experience.

And the "anti fans" are just as annoying. The ones that have to enter every single topic that mentions Undertale and let everyone know how overrated it is. Sure it might be overrated by some, but it is a fantastic game deserving of praise. It was my 2015 GOTY because it was the best game from that year I played. As much as I loved MGSV's gameplay and as huge a fan of that series as I am, the incomplete, shitty story was unforgivable and Undertale hit me harder than any other game that year. It actually wasn't until my third playthrough (btw I did back to back to back playthroughs to get all endings) that I was sold on it as the bestof 2015. It's a very different experience depending on the way you choose to play it. Add in awesome music, great humor, seriously touching moments, fun and extremely challenging (you'll be surprised how hard) gameplay.

Undertale's just a perfect example of a thing to experience on your own, ignoring both sides of extremes on the internet. Enjoy it and when you're done look at the nice fan art and listen to the remixes and just enjoy it.

End rant.

What's your favorite BGM?

So I just beat the neutral ending and I have to say, I loved the game and I'm restarting now for the pacifist ending (I'll see if I can do genocide but I saw the video of the sans fight and I must say it looks impossible lol)

My favorite songs are definitely Waterfall, Dummy!, and Metal Crusher. Hotlands and CORE also have great music

My favorite part of the game was when you encounter a timid shopowner in a hotel and you try to sell him something and he freaks out lol
omg and when they had you actually play that multicolored panel game LOL

I thought the stuff with the glasses dinosaur thing near the end was weird. The machine quiz robot basically tells you that she's evil and taking advantage of you but nothing really comes of it? Was the evil machine robot lying?
