Chased off a couple break-ins, killed a mouse(and would attack other mice if he saw them; this included bugs). Hell, he'd practically attack the mail everytime it came through the slot. Consider that if you're leaving them unneutered/unspayed, but you don't have any other pets around and are not allowing them to breed, you're giving them a sex drive but artificially preventing them from following through on those urges, which would be even more cruel. My town does "sting operations" where they'll catch strays, fix them, cut the tip of one ear to identify them then release them back where they found them. They're much more likely to roam than to hang around and protect an area. Police dogs all get neutered before entering service. Security dogs, any dogs in service. They get fixed.
