If it's books... still probably not, plenty of POV characters who were weaker and had less interesting stories

No, he's the best, most interesting character behind Jaime and unfortunately both of them have suffered heavily without George RR Martin's writing as reference. D and D cannot write or set up compelling scenes that aren't battles like Martin at all.

Yup.

I am of the extreme opinion that most of the characters in this show suck and are boring and that the interesting things Bran does are one of the few bright spots.

But i also haven't watched an episode in a few years.

Sure, there's good scenese besides battles, but the writing and dialogue pales in comparison to the seasons that followed Martin's books. The most obvious example of this decline is just looking at how boring Tyrion's scenes have become relative to the lofty heights they once were.

I thought s6 Tyrion was pretty decent

This season he's second fiddle - to someone he actually wants to be second fiddle to, though. So he's not really wisecracking or rebelling and that was when he was best - pushing back against his father, against Cersei, plotting from within KL.

I'm not gonna say the writing is better or worse, but Tyrion is down to circumstance more than writing I think.

Do you not think that his wisecracking worked better when held up against Cersei and Tywin? He's now with a leader he actuslly likes and believes in. He doesn't have Cersei's incest to joke about or Joffrey to embarrass to Bronn to banter with. I feel like that situation, where he was the outcast and got to have all these scenes that had an innate conflict suited his character better.

Maybe the writing has declined, but with Tyrion I definitely think he's just not in a position to do the stuff that originally made him so popular. He used to be a loveable rogue, now he's more straight-laced.
