Keep in mind that your value decreases every year you don't have work. So if you weren't going hard year one, even if you triple your efforts in year two it's going to be harder to get a job. After all, each year plenty more people graduate and a more recent graduate without experience is going to look more appealing than a less recent one.
And, in general, you should have tried branching out if you weren't finding something directly pertaining to your major. --- (\/)(\/)|-| In Zeus We Trust: All Others Pay Cash ... Copied to Clipboard!

I have no experience trying to get a programming job, but programming is a field where an experienced employee is *astronomically* more valuable than an inexperienced one, and in fact an inexperienced employee can be almost purely detrimental. so all you tend to see are Senior level jobs with few to zero junior or intermediate positions.
the main thing to do is try to become the best programmer you can be in your spare time. you don't need a job to become great at programming, you just need to program. If you haven't gotten a job with your degree in three years, the problem isn't them You are right. I have been having issues with depression, anxiety, etc that has kept me scared to do much of anything. Luckily I have been going to church and I have gotten way better. I just wish I started going to church years ago but I was too stubborn. I started applying again recently since I have recovered a lot so I've been doing that. But the last interview I had was 1 year and 6 months ago. Does anyone know about job programs for tech workers that target people with mental illness for job training? I've never taken medicine or gone to the doctor for it so I have no proof, but maybe they will take me Sahuagin posted... this is just sad Sahuagin posted... probably means 8+ years programming experience with experience in Swift lol no i doubt it. just lazy recruiters/hr being unrealistic as usual It even reached accounting... for a BASIC staff job, jobs are saying CPA preferred or at least be eligible to take the exams. Let me remind you that anybody who can count numbers is more than suitable for an entry level accounting job As technology becomes more important these standards are probably going to get more ridiculous because the old people up top have no idea how to manage any of it and expect hires to have full understanding/control over everything --- RIP in peace Junpei 6/1/17 :( ... mastermix3000 posted...anybody who can count numbers is more than suitable for an entry level accounting job That is much, much easier to learn on the job than something like swift or any other technical industry. Shouldn't take more than a month for a complete moron to know which gl accounts hit the I/S and B/S. You repeat the same entries everyday/month/year end. Budgets can be broken done, and im pretty sure you can explain deferred revenue and people would have an idea of what you mean To get an accounting degree at UMass you needed 21 Accounting credits when i was attending now it's bumped to 30 --- RIP in peace Junpei 6/1/17 :( ...
