Because 2D and 3D go hand in hand. What works in 3D can also work in 2D and vice versa so they're like "well everything would also work if it was this way so Earth is flat confurmed!!"

They don't. Virtually 100% of Flat-Earthers are committed trolls. Many of the people that popularized it are trying to make a point, highlighting how illogical Young Earth Creationists are. It was satirical, much like the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Unfortunately, the movement has caused much more harm than good in terms of educating the public and giving people a more open mind about science. Most Flat-Earthers only troll because they think it's funny.
