Seriously considering it. I got offered a contract. I have to go through a small amount of training to get certified, but otherwise I'm golden... it's a lot of money.

Private military is yeah...

It's not like murdering african refugees or anything like the stories tell. It's mostly security details.
It pays a ton of money, though.

I guess the real issue is I just got a job as a Deputy Sheriff and it's got a pension... It's no where near the same money, and I'm probably much safer, and I haven't been there long. I don't want to look like a quitter.

It's entirely security work, attacking first is expressly forbidden and if you're caught you can be legally subjected to war crimes.

Actually, if you're an US citizen, it might be illegal for you to do so:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protocol_I

Again, it's kinda murky waters, but certain international laws of war due the the Geneva Conventions outlaw most Mercenary behavior.

So better luck next time, Deadpool.

Try being a 'Ninja' instead.

It's all perfectly legal. The only reason I'm getting offers is because I know a few guys from my military days.

I believe you. I don't know that I believe that the rules are always followed. Xu/blackwater etc. But I do know this company is fairly legitimate.

My buddy did PSD work for Triple Canopy/Constellis or whatever they're called now since he had the school from when we were in.

I'm tempted to talk to one of their recruiters just to be a damn gate guard in Kuwait or something.

I'd probably do it for a while, build up a nice amount of cash and then come back and get your pension job.

It only takes what, 20 years to get a full pension?

My current job is working in a max security setting with murders and rapists. I'm the only officer for about 100 inmates. The biggest issue is the travel.

I think you should be a prostitute instead. Not only do the best ones make more money than mercenaries, but it's the one profession that older than mercenaries as well.

That doesn't matter if you have an attribute that's a fetish. Are you willing to gain 400lbs by any chance?

I am doing something else.
I am qualified, able, and it's great money for moderate work. Short term it's a great gig. Former military, current law enforcement etc and so on. When you actually check the numbers it's not as dangerous as you'd think and you also get to travel a bit to places you wouldn't normally go.

No, it's not...esp. if you getting 'paid' to work as a soldier for any on going national wars...

unless you gonna work for/in some country that doesn't follow said conventions (or you are not an US citizen).

Or you just using the term 'Mercenary' liberally.

Yeah exactly. And it's gotta be less stressful than what I'm doing now.

My buddy did his PSD work and made around 80-90 grand for a year I think. The gate guard jobs only pay about 16 an hour, but since it's tax free, you get overtime, and everything's paid for I'd imagine it's a pretty good gig.
