Most of what he posts is so condescending and comes off like he "gets it" and you don't. I like some of his ideas, like not pushing everyone to go to college and showing people that trade jobs are fantastic careers, yet he manages to come off like he thinks college educated people don't understand the real world. In his most recent posts (and many others) he points out that college shelters students from different view points and aren't preparing students to face the real world, but he seems to think every campus in America is like Berkeley or that Evergreen college. I went to a simple state school, and while it was largely liberal, it was smack dab in the middle of rural PA and the idea that we were sheltered from other opinions is nonsense. The funniest part is I think if every college in America was like Berkeley it WOULD prep you for the real world; everyone nitpicking every little thing you say or do, that's pretty much the definition of the modern day work place.

Masonry is definitely tough on the body, but pays well and can support a family. Beats working for minimum wage imo.

High voltage electrician is a great career, as long as you follow proper safety procedures then you'll be fine unless some sort of uncommon accident happens.

And finally lol@u if you think plumbers primary job is to unclog toilets.

he's from baltimore iirc

like, trades are a good job and they shouldn't be viewed as badly as they are, but he does this weird thing where he's like "oh, you should be happy no matter how fucking shitty your job is and you should treat your employer like god no matter how badly they treat you" that just fucking annoys the shit out of me

the best employee is always the one who gets screwed first from what I have seen because employers know they won't put up a fuss.

As a tradesman it is good to see someone advocating for it and trying to remove the stigma around it. There is a shortage of electricians where I live and a good one could realistically make six figures. Also as a tradesman, I can't wait to get out of it.

He seems to have the stance that, if you are not in skilled trades or manual labor, you aren't a real man. That's the whack part. Who cares, though?

you can make 6 figures because there is a shortage. i would be thanking the stigma while you count your money instead of hoping the market becomes over saturated like they have been trying to do with engineering work.

Drive everyone into trades so that wages plummet. That's ingenious! There is a reason why people were avoiding trades in the first place, to avoid physically exhaustive work that paid poorly. Sure there are shortages now, but with enough people it'll end up like it was before.

Also, he's too fond of licking employer ass.

Why's that

For the most part its a decent job to have but the parts of it like working in a 135 degree attic in the summer, or roughing a 15 degree house in the winter, or crawling around in a crawlspace that's too tight to turn your body over, just kick the shit out of you physically at the end of the day. Its true that we do need people to do those jobs, but if you are one the those people getting into a trade, do it because you genuinely enjoy the work, not because you want a paycheck, because the latter will make for an unpleasant job.

I think its beneficial in general for a person to have at least a basic knowledge of the trades, but at the same time I have seen firsthand how dangerous a person who attempts to do something without knowing the right way to do it can be

some of his advice is legitimately awful

There is one video of him out there saying that people should work jobs they hate for ridiculous hours just to avoid debt. Sorry but having some debt and a job you enjoy is 100000x better than a shitty job you hate being debt free.

You spend like a 1/3rd of you life at your job. If you don't enjoy it, your life sucks.
