I don't know what Rare is doing, but I wasn't impressed with what they showed at E3.

it's a very boring game.

you sail for 15 minutes, and it's pretty fucking cumbersome to steer the ship, to stop at an island, go on the island, kill maybe two skeletons dudes with two slashes of your sword, find one or two chests of treasure, and then sail again.

there isn't even a point to the treasure. it's just there. a thing that exists.

and that's it.

that's the entire fucking game.

Not exactly clamoring to play it, but part of me wants Rare to have a successful game and get back to their glory days.

When I saw it at E3 I got excited, because I thought it was going to be a pirate game that had all the cool elements of Assassin's Creed 4 but without the Assassin's Creed stuff.

so far it seems the funnest parts are when you come across someone else and ship battle.

but the promise of maybe something exciting happening isn't enough.

Considering they've changed exactly nothing about the game besides bug fixes, throughout countless alpha plays its safe to say that the alpha is the entire game.

I was laughing at E3 where Skull & Bones pretty much blew Sea of Thieves out of the water. I know people are probably gonna hate me for saying that and I want Rare to have a good game again but Sea of Thieves does not look good at all, has some potential maybe.

From what I understand, Skull and Bones is basically Assassin's Creed: Black Flag without all the Assassin's Creed stuff. It's just straight up pirates. Looks interesting.

yeah, and odds are skull and bones is going to release before sea of thieves, and sea of thieves has been in the works since at least viva pinata trouble in paradise, 9 years ago.

because in a few of the items in that game, there's flavortext that mentions sea of thieves things.
