I was always told the more credit card you have, the better (assuming you stick to spending less than 20% of your total credit).

I opened up credit cards like candy to get signup bonuses, and just threw them in the drawer never to be used. According to CreditKarma, my TransUnion and Equifax scores are above 790, and I have 33 revolving accounts (i.e. credit cards).

My hard inquiries is 2 right now, and I applied for another credit card... only to be declined. The reason was that I have too many accounts.

Are you sure your hard pulls are only 2? Was it a Chase card and are you over the 5/24?

I once had this idea where I'd get a bunch of cred cards, spend a bunch on one, withdraw cash from the 2nd one, deposit said cash into my bank acct, pay off the first one, and then rinse and repeat with about 5 or 6 cards for the good portion of a year.

then I realized it was possibly the most self-sabotaging idea of all time. I'm not the Wincester Bros.
