Plus the attacks on Obama weren't even warranted. You can disagree with his policy without attacking him personally. Trump does or says something nearly every day that just makes him look...dumb. Not to mention his entire admin has been a revolving dumpster fire. It's like keeping up with the Kardashians White House Editon.

But people today are saying what amounts to the equivalent of what he said about Obama towards Trump, and everyone is saying "yeah! Right on!"

Well because.

1: They didn't like Obama and do like Trump. So there is bias.

2. A lot of, if not most of the stories about Trump are either plain stupid or just silly. So it gets frutrating.

It's hard to talk about Trump when you get daily news articles about him using a handrail to get off a plane or him eating nachos or him saying he doesn't like Batman movies.

Even when the news does come round to politics there's a lot of stupidity. Right now as we speak there's a news story even being spread on CE where people are implying Trump pushed for a pardon because he wanted TV ratings. Where if you actually take 2 seconds to listen to him, he was saying he went public about it intentionally during a time where a lot of people would be watching the news so more people would hear it.

It becomes absurd. If you're just critizing him for the sake of it and either making stuff up, implying untrue stuff or just being weird. Then you're not really critizing him anymore, just making white noise. And that hurts everyone when he does actually do really dodgy serious things.

I think that bothers conservatives more than liberals because liberals are more used to emotional rhetoric and making stuff up or making mountains out mole-hills, where conservatives are still more in the "Who cares about that?" camp, at least as generalizations.

You don't really tend to see hoardes of conservatives claiming Obama was urinated on by Polish hookers. Or that Jimmy Carter wants to have sex with his daughters. They're more akin to just good old fashioned god-fearing anger.

But that's the problem.

Trump is daily (In fact hourly) being scrutinized for things he didn't do. Or at least things that don't matter.

So when he is attacked for things he did, they are white noise that falls on death ears.

Which is bad. I agree the president should be judged for every decision they make. But the Trump coverage is nonsense. It's beyond a joke. You can go to any newsite right now and he'll be on there, likely several times and chances are whatever story it is he is part of is a complete joke of a story.

So then when Trump actually does stuff, like overturn enviromental protections. Where's the outrage? Oh right it's buried on page 14 behind him playing Golf and calling a black lady fat. And now everyone has forgotten what it was 2 days later.

But that is exactly what Trump and the republicans are doing. A few violent protesters? It's all the left supporting them. An immigrant kills somebody? Ban all immigrants.

The only time they don't make it about an entire group is when it is a white, conservative, christian. Then it is a lone wolf. Unless they had some history of supporting sanders, then they are suddenly representative of everybody on the left.

Hookers peeing on him
His quotes that he would choose to run as a republican because republicans are stupid
The accusations of him raping various women
All the things saying he's a Nazi and Hitler.

Just recently you already mentioned the eclipse. I mentioned the handrail.

You can't honestly tell me that you follow the news and don't notice this, there's a new story every week if not day that is mind-boggingly stupid.

If you go to CNN or Salon then it's almost hourly.

this is totally true but most of it is things he brings upon himself.

charlottesville is a perfect example: he could have just immediately gone out and spoken against the white supremacists but he had to add in this neutral bull shit like "on both sides". now the media doesn't shut up about it for 2 weeks. He could have just done what every fucking advisor he has told him to do (and you know they did) but he had to be a jackass.

now, is charlottesville Trump's fault? of course not. but the way he handled the aftermath was entirely his fault.

To be fair, he came out and condemned the violence immediately, and THEN the media started giving him shit for not specifically saying "white supremacists" on TV, so he came out and made a second statement with the infamous "on both sides" comment. He came out pretty quick against the violence, but the media was never going to give him the time of day. They just found some way to complain about what words weren't said instead.

even considering that you dont say it. you just don't. Bush wouldn't have, Reagan wouldn't have. He was basically using that tragedy to push his little agenda of liberal violence. And there were protests in the weeks prior, where there certainly was liberal violence, but that was not the time to bring it up.

For someone so concerned over his image he has absolutely no understanding of optics.

That's my point. He didn't say it, and they still found a way to give him shit. He was NEVER going to be given credit for handling of the situation, because no matter what he said they were going to find a reason to complain about it. If you're going to argue he was using a tragedy to push his agenda, it was only AFTER CNN uses the tragedy to push theirs on him. It doesn't matter that he said it, which is probably why he did, because nothing he does matters. It will always be taken negatively, regardless of cause nor effect.

Mainstream republicans were silent amidst "that group's" wild criticisms of Obama. Donald Trump was one of those birthers and didn't reverse course on that until he was pressured into it last year.

Are we arguing that a silent majority is complicit in the actions of a minority? Because if so, we're about to have a very awkward conversation about Islam.

I'm saying the vast majority mainstream Republicans didn't distance themselves from "that group's" criticism of Obama at all. The only one I remember distancing himself from that was John McCain after that old lady got on stage during one of his campaign rallies and said Obama was an Arab.

Feel free to provide more examples.
