Originally I was going to do an anime of the decade after 2019 ended... but I'm not sure this board (or I) will be here and it's like... yeah?

In any case like all of my lists some self-imposed rules.

1. Only full length shows (nothing shorter than half-length. Must be full season runs etc).
2. Show must have started and ended between Spring 2012 and Spring 2017).
3. Multiple season are combined if the quality of each is close enough.

Keep in mind this is my opinion. There are a number of shows a lot of people really liked that I just don't for whatever reason. After the list is done you can inquire about specific cases if you wish. I do watch a wide range of genres but as open a mind as I try to have there are just some shows I'm going to like more simply based on content.

That said I consider every show on this list at least good. If you need to know 50 shows is probably ~15% or something of all shows I finished during this span and like ~7% of all shows I started. However, I don't exactly recommend all these shows to new anime viewers, so I might make note of if I think a newbie would like this show or not.

Feel free to post predictions for like top 10s. Or whatever.

First set in a bit.

100. Outbreak Company
https://myanimelist.net/anime/19369/Outbreak_Company

Outbreak Company is one of the earlier *post* SAO Isekai (Another World) anime. It's about Shinichi Kanou, a shut in otaku who somehow becomes employed to spread otaku culture to another realm connected to Japan.

The show is a comedy at heart with a bit of a harem aspect to it. The jokes are decent enough (one of my favorites being when the princess was being "tsundere"). However, there is a surprising amount of depth or at least pseudo depth that the show brings forth in our mcs struggles to create a thriving otaku nation.

In all honesty none of the characters are that memorable overall but they are all likable and many of them have good designs. There is a pretty decent amount of fan service in the show, but nothing incredibly overboard. Mostly just girls wearing less clothes than they probably would otherwise.

Also, I don't usually take note of this, but some parts of the animation budget was clearly lacking. Like if I recall the monster character's mouth does not move when he talks (I think it was this show. To be honest another show aired at around the same time with like a monster too and that ones mouth did open and I took note of it).

In any case, Outbreak Company is a fun show that is more enjoyable if you are already knowledgeable about parts of otaku culture etc. It has cute female characters and a male character who is not a complete loser.

99. The Royal Tutor
https://myanimelist.net/anime/34262/Oushitsu_Kyoushi_Heine

You'll notice as I do this list that I'll most likely remember shows that aired recently a lot better. This is one that just ended recently so it's very fresh in my mind. The show is about Heine who is employed to tutor 4 young princes. Each of them have their own quirk that he must overcome.

I'll be honest when I say I didn't really like this show at first. But each of the princes goes through a clear story arc and transformation. While none of the characters are really that ground breaking it's impressive what they do in the short period of time while developing the differences of five different characters. Heine himself is a very short person so I can relate to him in that way >.>.

Not really much more to talk about. The show has solid art work and animation. There is a "story" but the core of the show is about the character development and the show does it well. Watch this if you want character focused non-sol type shows.

98. Netoge
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31404/Netoge_no_Yome_wa_Onnanoko_ja_Nai_to_Omotta

Believe it or not girls play video games and this show is about a lot of girls who play games. Basically a group of friends who only knew each other online find out they go to the same school. One guy and three girls. The show is an ecchi romcom.

I'd like to start this by saying this came out in 2016 and that almost seems weird. Like everyone knows girls play games now. While some "experts" like to say they outnumber guys at this point I'm still pretty sure males still dominate in what we would call "games."

The show's main girl Ako, is a lovable dork who has no real social skills. She is dating (or something) her in game husband Hideki who has a hard time trusting girls because he once proposed to a girl who ended up being a guy in game. The cast overall is decent but Ako's quirkiness is going to be the deciding factor fo r you.

Netoge is largely a show of big moments. The good scenes are really good and carry the show. So it's not really the most consistent thing but does more than enough. It has decent fan service. Some of the animation is questionable in places and it's clear they cut some corners. If you've ever played games, especially MMOs you'll find some minor enjoyment even if you dislike everything else.

I did enjoy Outbreak Company, though not enough to put it in my top 30% of shows or whatever. For reference, I just went through my list (I keep saved a ranked list of all anime I watch), it looks like it places in 45th out of 69 shows I've watched from the last 5 years.

The details are hazy in my head, but I remember really not liking the last few episodes. Middle was great though, and yeah I also loved the princess. Think my favorite part though was the whole gag starting when the main character starts teaching the class of fantasy people about ZR.

97. Black Bullet
https://myanimelist.net/anime/20787/Black_Bullet

Black Bullet is a post apocalyptic action type show. It holds some similarities to shows like Attack on Titan and Guilty Crown (which are shows I assume are more popular overall, but I'm not sure I'd call Black Bullet unknown). The setting is in Tokyo, which iirc is one of the last cities in the world due to the Gastrea virus that has killed most of mankind. Now select female children who have trace amount of the virus are used as weapons to fight the threat due to the powers they gained by the infection.

If I had to describe the show in a sentence it would be "Save the lolis." The main loli in the show is Enju, a genki who wants the D of her handler, Rentarou. Neither of them are huge standouts when compared to like really good characters but they work well off each other. Enju's main trait is that she's cute and Rentarou is that he struggles with the position he has due to his own perceived weakness.

In case you haven't put 2 and 2 together, since the lolis are infected by the virus... they are slowly dying and actual full infection is a possibility. So constant checks are needed to make sure the levels don't get too high. This becomes a very cheap but effective method of making you feel concerned for Enju. I mean, nothing too much really comes from it but the show does manage to set up several mildly sad scenes relating to this and a few other things as well.

The show has a good balance though of action, comedy, drama, etc. It doesn't really excel in anything (besides soundtrack where I think it's really good there) but does not have that many major failings. I will say some of the dialogue is questionable... but that also might just be the subs. This is a show where it won't matter how much you know about anime.

96. Monster Musume
https://myanimelist.net/anime/30307/Monster_Musume_no_Iru_Nichijou

Do you like girls? Do you like fan service? Do you not care if those girls are human? I have the show for you. Monster Musume is an ecchi comedy where Kimihito Kurusu has become part of the cultural exchange program where he houses members of several non-human species at his house.

Probably the biggest factor in the judgement of an ecchi show is how good is the fan service and how attractive are the female designs. The first part is easy to answer... the fans service is good sometimes even great. The female designs is harder to answer because they are monster girls >.>. I mean obviously they have been designed to be as appealing as possible but I can't honestly say like Lamia girl is hotter than like *insert random girl from ikkitousen here*. But the designs also make each character memorable.

As for their personalities, each girl has a pretty distinct one many of them are attached to the type of sub species they are. There is also a monster girl special ops squad that shows up sometimes called MON... which is led by best girl Zombina. Each episode (or couple) have a small story arc where you learn a bit about each of the girls but there is not really a big story line that some shows, even in the ecchi category has such as standouts like Heaven's Lost Property.

As far as ecchi harems go Monster Musume as a whole is really only that different because of the premise but manages to have entertaining contained stories for each of the girls, good comedy, and good fan service.

95. Joshiraku
https://myanimelist.net/anime/12679/Joshiraku

Joshiraku is a comedy series about a group of girls who do rakugo (a type of story telling entertainment). There is not really any focus on that as most of it is just them hanging out for each of the various gags. It follows the five girls as they go on their misadventures.

The cast of this show is pretty good overall. Each girl has a distinct personality trait, that while at times seems to be blown out of proportion for comedic effect, really meld well together with the rest of the cast and a lot of the jokes in the show. One of the girls, Kukuru is especially negative in everything she says to the point where just her talking becomes funny. All of the names are a play on words of sorts (something I would not have actually known at first glance). I mean that's not really important but a neat little tidbit. The show shines more because of the interaction of the characters rather than there being a stand out.

The comedy set ups for the show are pretty spot on. They have a good mix of instant laughs but imo the set ups it has for some of the jokes (such as the ghost one) were really good. It's not always the funniest show but the diverse amounts of personalities should keep someone entertained.

This is a show though that does represent among the largest cultural gaps on this list. Even someone like me who watches a lot of anime and knows a bit about some Japanese culture and current events would have struggled without things like translators notes explaining some of actual references. Even so don't let that scare you away. I still don't think this is a new viewer show but if you're looking for something a little different in the slice of life comedy department this is a good fit.

94. Kamisama Kiss (S1+2)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/14713/Kamisama_Hajimemashita

Kamisama Kiss is going to be the first of several shoujo romantic comedies that are going to appear on this list. I generally find the good shows in this genre to be really good (albeit the bad ones are almost always unwatchable). This one is about a young girl Nanami who becomes the Earth Goddess of the a shrine in order to not be homeless anymore. She gains the help of several spirits to learn about her duties and the spirit realm, most notably the main love interest of the show, a fox spirit named Tomoe.

The show is pretty lighthearted for the most part, but later in the first season and the second it gets into more serious story points to further the relationship between the two mains. The show is a shoujo so a majority of the characters are male, but none of them are really love interests, more differing personalities for the viewer to enjoy. The characters themselves are fun but honestly most of them don't add much versus a change of pace or some comic relief in a show that doesn't need that much to begin with. That said, the two mains do get ample focus and development. They maintain their personalities but their actions towards each other and others changes over time in differing ways.

Even with all of that some of the romance parts are not always too strong. A lot of it his backloaded at the end and they seem to happen in like sudden spurts than seem more natural. I guess the current pinnacle of the genre is Toradora and it's not as good as that but has its moments and the comedy aspects more than make up for some of its shortcomings.

If you're looking for an introduction to the genre that aired recently this is a pretty good start. It's pretty low on melodrama (something a lot of shows in this genre has) has an appealing art style, and good comedy.

Tag, didn't watch any of these last three, but saw all others.

Outbreak was always just... there. Royal Tutor kinda tried too hard... I still really liked Netoge, and then Black Bullet... Nailed its atmosphere but was a little too large for the anime to handle.

That's my 2 cents for now.

93. Haiyoire! Nyaruko-san W
https://myanimelist.net/anime/15699/Haiyore_Nyaruko-san_W

W is the second season of the full length Nyaruko series. It's a work that is very loosely based on the works by HP Lovecraft. It's a parody anime that pokes fun at a lot of things within the fandom and and a lot of the genre tropes. On top of that it's packed with references of famous shows.

I guess it's a list spoiler but to start off the second season is not as good as the first one (This is not the first time this is going to happen). It does maintain a lot of the positive aspects but the story lines and overall creativity goes down a bit here. I say story but the show doesn't really have one. Basically Nyaruko really wants the main dude Mahiro, but he's a tsundere because it's a parody show. Other house guests come, hilarity ensues.

Just about every character is likable, but Nyaruko is a pretty big carry here. She gets the best lines, best references, and while she can act a bit overbearing genuinely wants to do nice things for her friends (most of the time). Like on the same side though Mahiro gets a little too fed up at times this season.

Nothing really else for now. The first season is on this list at some point and that write up will likely be longer.

92. Date A Live
https://myanimelist.net/anime/15583/Date_A_Live

Date A Live is a harem anime where the girls have super powers. The goal of the protagonist is to seal away these powers by getting the girls to fall for him and then finishing off the process with a kiss. Obviously, he does this by dating them.

Shidou is the lucky male character who gets all of the girls to fall for him in this series. He is specially gifted to help the girls in the series, most of which are spirits, powerful beings which have wrecked havoc and destruction throughout the land. But as the lead is sees them as nice girls who just want to live normal lives.

The girls themselves tend to be rather extreme versions of the stereotypes they represent. For instance, Tohka is extremely simple minded and lacks any type of common sense. Any character development is rather superficial as a lot of it is done within the handful of episodes each one gets for their arc. However, each of them is undoubtedly entertaining.

You might be wondering if there is like a main enemy they have to band together to fight. Well, yes and no. One of the girls, Origami, is a member of a group tasked to destroy spirits, but she is often conflicted because of her love for Shidou. She seems to monopolize a lot of the best lines, which is kind of unfortunate since she's probably the least likable of the characters. But, the true enemy is not really revealed until the very end, in a season 2 preview... (for that matter season 2 is not good).

The action sequences in the show are very impressive as is the art for the show along with the humor is really the main draw. There is really not any character development and the plot is typically bland for a harem.

If you watch this show you're not doing it for the story, character development, or any of that. If you want to compare this series to something else it's like a cross between The World God Only Knows (with less engaging arcs) and Heaven's Lost Property (with somewhat less fleshed out characters), but Date A Live has just as much entertainment value and ultimately better humor.

In the end Date A Live is rather shallow with some uneven episodes in the middle, but likeable characters and some very appealing action sequences. It's a show where you can forget about a lot of it's flaws, which says a lot.

Also,Kurumi Tokisaki is the best girl.

91. Majimoji Rurumo
https://myanimelist.net/anime/23945/Majimoji_Rurumo

Majimoji Rurumo is a comedy anime about a young witch (Rurumo) who has to somehow get Shibaki to use 666 magic wish granting tickets. Sounds easy right? I mean a genie only gives 3. But, at the end of the 666th wish you kind of die and that's a problem.

Or I want to say it's a problem but the show is so short and very focused on comedy that they use it as like a thing but also not really. They could have made it go a lot deep and darker, but it's probably for the best they didn't. What's interesting though is that the show does do a good job at making sure the viewer knows that once he knows the condition for the wishes it's like a big deal whenever he does make one. It's worth noting that Rurumo does not know about the side effects.

Rurumo is a with with the fucking biggest witch hat ever. She's a hard worker, yet also has a hard time doing things. But one of best thing the show does is basically how it makes you feel bad for her. This is kind of pitted against not wanting Shibaki to die because for Rurumo to be a real witch he has to use all the tickets. Shibaki, a grade A pervert, shows obvious care for Rurumo (more as like a friend more than anything) and wants her to become a full fledged witch. The last place I'd expect this to go is like a cute feel good show, but that's basically what this is.

The side characters are pretty entertaining. There is a cat who turns into a barely clothed girl, the mom who is a yandere, and even a rival witch. They add varying amounts to the simple story the show has, but most importantly give you different things to laugh about.

Where the show does lack though is nothing really happens. We get some minor character development and some tickets are pulled and such, but a lot of show is a by the numbers generic anime that has an interesting base and pretty endearing characters.

90. Love Stage
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21105/Love_Stage

Love Stage is a shounen-ai romantic comedy. A long time ago a boy and a girl starred in a commercial together. The guy developed a sort of crush on the girl. Skip forward a few years and they are doing a anniversary commercial. The guy, who still has a crush on the girl... finds out the girl is actually another guy (who looks like a girl).

Shounen-Ai is not a genre I typically like. Not really for the sounen-ai but because since the main audience is female they toss in a lot of those shoujo type things that really get on my nerves. Like those reverse harems where they have to introduce all the guys in an episode and have a flower frame around them. I ask myself "is this what girls want in an anime?". However, Love Stage seems to have broken the gender barrier (and sooner than Yuri on Ice... which might be the most misleading title in all of anime).

It does this mainly by just being pretty solid on the comedy front and having a decent romance arc too. Like it still lacks the investment you'll have in something like Toradora or Skip Beat. I want to say other shounen-ais to watch... but I can't. I mean I've seen some of number 6, and that show sucks. I will say though that near the end something kind of happens that is pretty upsetting in the show and might be a deal breaker for some people.

The characters are pretty fun to watch. While they have simple back stories, the show used them to build their current personalities and circumstances and uses them well to create their full profile. The main enemy of the show is time, it's only 10 episodes and it's hard to pull off something like this in such a short period of time and have it seem meaningful. To be honest it only partly succeeds but does its best in trying.

89. The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat
https://myanimelist.net/anime/15225/Hentai_Ouji_to_Warawanai_Neko

Youto (the hentai prince) wants to let the world know his feelings without inhibitions. However, he can't bring himself to show the world his true self. This is until he makes a wish on the stony cat that he will always be honest. His wish is granted, but in a way he doesn't expect. The part of him he didn't want, was transferred to someone else. Now, realizing that sometimes being honest all the time is not that good, he seeks to find who the other person is.

At the same time Tsukiko (despite the title, she's not the stony cat. Although, I guess technically it does work both ways. I see what you did there anime.) Lost her emotions because of the actual cat she lost her emotions. Honestly, his lack of emotions really works to her benefit in this anime. There are not a whole lot of romcoms where I'd say that moe is a huge factor, but it is here, and she's a big part of it. They decide to help each other to find their missing parts. The cast overall is probably the strongest part. There are more characters that have nearly as much importance, but I can't really talk too much of them and keep this spoiler free.

The show is bright and cute. The story is not always the strongest, and it does get kind of strange is places when the cat starts to grant some more wishes, but I'd say it's a show that's above average on most fronts. However, there is the annoyance on how prevalent the cat is at times. It's like the main plot device and pretty much among the only one the show uses. I mean I guess that can be fine, but it can get kind of dumb in the end.

Unless you absolutely hate fan service or moe, this is a show I think most people can enjoy.

88. Scorching Ping Pong Girls
https://myanimelist.net/anime/33031/Shakunetsu_no_Takkyuu_Musume

Agari Kamiya is the ping pong clubs ace. Everyone looks up to her. She revels in her position of power. However, when a new transfer, Koyori, joins the club and happens to be a good player, Agari feels threatened. It's an anime about burning ping pong passion.

The anime doesn't really have a story. Basically it goes through a few arcs like Agari being a jerk arc, training, and the tournament, etc. The main downfall is that the show pretty much ends on a very incomplete note or this might have been much higher up the list as it's very enjoyable overall imo.

I kind of wants to say the actual ping pong matches are compelling, and they are... kinda. But it's really more because of the girls and their quirks that make it fun to watch. Like you're not going to really get invested in the matches like some other sports anime that are going to appear later on, but it's still just fun to watch. None of the characters are even that special, but they play their roles very well. I suppose a very similar anime would be like softenni (which I consider to be a slightly better show). Like each character has a type of "ping pong super power" or special move that they are good at. I guess it's like Kuruko in that case but Kuruko takes itself way too seriously as an anime. Ping Pong girls just wants to have fun.

This is something that does well because of execution. Doesn't really try to be something its not and what it tries to do is be a cute ping pong show that focuses on its strengths (like moeness) rather than fast action due to the limits in its animation budget.

Kind of a more niche title, but highly enjoyable to the right audience.

87. Nanana's Buried Treasure
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21561/Ryuugajou_Nanana_no_Maizoukin_TV

Nanana's Buried Treasure is a type of adventure anime that seems to mix together several different genres together to make a kind of unique package

On the surface the story is about how Juugo moves into a dorm where Nanana lives. However, she is a ghost who is searching for her killer. She has hidden the treasure she has gathered in her life time around the city and Juugo is tracking them down to help her achieve her goal. However, fairly early on there is a major twist in the anime that does take time to get used to, but it does make it more interesting.

However, the story does not go very far in the 11 episodes the show has. The ending does not even fall on a spot where there is some closure and the pacing is off balanced due to the number of reveals the show commits to. The anime is very fast paced overall and a lot of the transitions seem a bit jarring.

The characters are somewhat of a mixed bag. Juugo, for a male protagonist, is actually pretty well rounded. He clearly likes girls, but is actually focused on his goals. Also, while he is quick to protect people, he is not against venting his annoyances. He's pretty realistic personality wise as far as anime goes. But he also has no real major strengths either besides being somewhat refreshing.

Nanana, the title character, has some interesting past but none of it is explored during the show. She gets no development and it's even questionable to call her a main character as her involvement overall is fairly limited. She is likable enough, but again, not very special. However, then we get to Tensai, the true hero of the anime. She claims to be a master detective and while this seems like a bogus claim at first, she actually makes good on it. She's most likely among the smartest and most cunning of the cast.

There are of course a lot of side characters. A couple of them get some backstory and development, but nothing very major at all. A lot of the characters really seem to be moving from point A to B to get to a treasure using various means. Oh, the maid is a trap.

One of the most exciting parts of the anime are the treasure rooms. They are huge puzzles the characters must solve to get to the treasure, and they all can be deadly. It's very much akin to Phi-Brain, but the animation and characters make it more enjoyable. When they get to one it's almost like the anime telling you this is going to be pretty awesome

From an animation standard it has it's own flare to say the least. However, a lot of the characters just seem to blend into each other after a while. The only ones with really distinctive styles are Nanana and Tensai, and the latter is more due to her outfit than anything else. However, that is not to say the animation is bad... it's actually quite solid. The sound is kind of weird for the anime overall, I mean the OP and ED are both solid and imo fit the show a lot better than some of the IN tracks.

Nanana might have hidden a true ending away somewhere but it's not to be found in eleven episodes. It did what it could in the time it was given however making it all come together was an unsolvable puzzle.

Didn't bother with the second season of Nyaruko, and seems it was good that I did if it's lower than the first.

DaL sucked, I'll just end this like that.

Henneko was the first anime I ever streamed with someone, I enjoyed it, Azuki was great.

Ping Pong girls made me sad that it ended right before an actual arc showing up.

And Nanana... Yeah, kind of opened too many doors for the shortness of the show. A1 should have tried to buy more of the story.

86. Prison School
https://myanimelist.net/anime/30240/Prison_School

Prison School is an ecchi comedy anime. It's about five guys who are the first of their gender to be accepted into a previously all girls school. However, due to varying circumstances conspiring against them they are outed as perverts, problem students, menaces to society, and so on. So they are sent to the schools prison to learn... and learn the error of their ways.

The art style in Prison School is probably one of its standout features. It looks much more like something I'd expect to see in a hentai. I lot of the character designs too for the females seem to have been purposely made with that in mind. Granted, I don't actually think any of the girls are actually that attractive by like anime standards. It reminds me mildly of stuff like G-Taste. In any case the art work is very well done. The character expressions are mostly priceless and really add to a lot of the comedy the show has going for it.

The actual characters are mostly good. I think the cast is well balanced without anyone I hated but the only character I really liked was Hana. All of them have some dumb quirk which ranges from typical anime stuff to that is the dumbest thing ever, but it works because it's in this show. Like one of the simplest ones is Chiyo who really likes wrestling and thinks that Kiyoshi is a good guy because he likes it too.

There is very little actual story beyond like finding out if the guys are going to be expelled and some other stuff. There is also a lot of "Tarantinoing." The actual story lines though can be pretty funny. Like especially the ones involving Hanna and anything to do with like those figurines. But you're not getting anything extraordinary.

I said it looks like a hentai almost, and sometimes I almost forget it's not one (well except there's like no sex). Like in a lot of other scenarios this would be a gross show. A show that was pretty gross was like Hen Zemi. I say that, but I'm not sure because I dropped that. It just lacks the stuff that made that gross stuff entertaining. Like some of the fan service for one. But at the same time the show is so bizarre in the way the fan service is presented you wonder if you're even supposed to be aroused by it.

Prison School is a fun show, but one that's really not for everyone. If you're a prude who hates to laugh, don't watch it.

85. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
https://myanimelist.net/anime/28121/Dungeon_ni_Deai_wo_Motomeru_no_wa_Machigatteiru_Darou_ka

DanMachi is kind of a misleading title. Bell, the main male, actually doesn't actively try to pick any girls up. It's about how he is trying to go from lowly level 1 adventurer weakling, to a high level (well in this case a high level is like 6) power house. Along the way he'll get help from other adventures and a goddess.

To put it bluntly. I'm not even sure DanMachi is that good of a show. Like the biggest standout in the show is the biggest chest (more on that later). But the show seems to be incredibly polarizing. The growth of Bell is pretty compelling. He does so much to get stronger and the show shows clear progress. Along with it are a lot of other RPG type tropes like farming gear, crafting, different job roles, etc.

The characters are pretty bland minus for Bell and Hestia really. Hestia (is bestia) is the Goddess who watches over Bell. She's a cute character with a likeable personality. Another worth noting is Ais, a girl who doesn't really talk much, but is also cute. She has her own spin off show, but that's not really good because she's not suited to be a main character. She works well in her supporting role.

This is a show that if you like it, you'll like it for no other reason but it manages to play to its strenghts and be more entertaining than it should be.

I thought the last fight in Danmachi was pretty good. Other than that, the show was mostly just okay. I like Ais a lot but she really wouldn't be a good choice for a main character. Not that she does that much main charactering in her own spinoff.

84. Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm
https://myanimelist.net/anime/28391/Ao_no_Kanata_no_Four_Rhythm

AoKana is a sports show, and one of I believe two fake sports show (although list spoiler, one of them has become a real sport) that is going to be on this list. The sport in question is called flying circus. An event where players using these flying type shoes race and battle each other. It mainly focuses on Asuka Kurashina, a young girl who is just starting to get into the game.

The show has a pretty simple cast of characters. They don't quite get as fleshed out as some other shows on this list, but they do have distinct personalities. There is not too much in the way of their back stories like a lot of other sports shows seem to need to make us fully aware of for every single character and because it doesn't do that it does cover some good ground in the short span this runs. All the characters are pretty straightforward in their outlook. Asuka simply likes the sport and wants to get better at it and Masaya Hinata a guy who reluctantly starts to coach her even though he wanted to be rid ofthe sport for good. Despite the simpleness to each of them, the anime does a lot with these small character traits that are initially revealed.

The story is really set into a three main parts: introduction, training, and tournament. There are small side points throughout but it does follow the normal sports show formula. There is not too much to the story itself, it's heavily driven by the characters ideals and changing viewpoints. The real anchor is Asuka as almost every character and story point is filter through her. There is a surprising amount of content that gets tossed in though as they start and finish character and story points that should take entire arcs to complete in other shows in an episode or two. The show seems incredibly fast paced and almost leisurely at the same time.

Lets get to the actual sport. The actual flying circus portions are a joy to watch. They are well animated and have a level of excitement that not every sports show is able to match. It helps that the show really gives the characters focus so that you know it's more than simply winning or losing. There is something more personal at stake for each of them. It doesn't quite get the level of emotional commitment the top tier sports shows are going to give you but still does more than enough.

AoKana is has a lot of depth hidden under the cute exterior. It's a show that is worth picking up despite some of the hick ups.

83. Keijo!!!!!!!!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/32686/Keijo

Well, it didn't take long to get to the other fake sport (which is now a real sport). Keijo is a female only sport, not really really because of like feminism or anything but because only females can play the sport effectively due to how it works. Basically the girls use their boobs and butts to knock other girls off into the water. If this sounds stupid... it is. But boy do they make it fun to watch.

Keijo is so dumb in places that I didn't actually like it at first. In fact, it's one of the rare shows that was almost an episode 1 drop where I'm happy I kept it. Truthfully the first few episodes are not great and it really takes until they get to the matches where it really shines. There is no real story besides the girls trying to win a match and Nozomi training to get better and perfect her special ability, the vacuum butt cannon.

The characters are fairly standard overall. Really, I think Nozomi is a pretty big star and one of my favorites from the year. I also just like her accent and seem to smile when she talks. I mean I can't say more beyond that. The show honestly doesn't give anyone else enough of a real personality or even running gags that are going to make you like a girl that much.

Lets get to something important. The fan service. I think a lot of shows are using fan service as something more for like "almost porn" purposes, but lost to anime has been a show that just has it because it make sense? I don't know but because the girls are so invested into the sport itself it almost seems like it's just a side effect of whats going on rather than viewer gratification (which it totally is but talking about like within the universe of the show). Like the girls in the show want you take them seriously and as hard as the premise of dumb things the show does to make that not so you do see the work they put in and have a certain level of investment.

Lets not kid ourselves though. There are a lot of t and a in the show. Even more heightened by the sheer number of parody moves that the girls use as their specials. Like the fucking fate rip off one. When stuff like that happened I knew I was watching a true gem of an anime. Like they have other things to like sword nipples (I think), Buttack on Titan, this thing where two girls join into the same suit like some combo attack. It actually references a number of different anime so if you've seen them it does help, but most of them have been pretty famous titles.

Honestly, if you're just going into this for the fan service you'll be disappointed. Despite there being a great deal of it it's not the type where you'll come back because of it. Instead you'll come back because the show is stupid and the show knows its stupid.

82. Parasyte -the maxim-
https://myanimelist.net/anime/22535/Kiseijuu__Sei_no_Kakuritsu

Parasyte was one of the most hyped shows of 2014. Mainly because of the source material (the manga is held in very high regard). A bunch of parasitic aliens have come to earth and need to feed on living things in order to survive. One such parasite intended to infect Shinichi Izumi, but something happened and could not fully take over. Now, known as Migi (right in english) lives as part of him.

The core of the entire show is the relationship between Migi and Shinichi. The parasites are emotionless creatures driven solely on survival. Shinichi is a caring human being and soon sees his new found partner as a reason to fight other parasites. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that they slowly become more like each other as the show goes on. Despite that though there is very little actual character development. Yes, you can tell the characters are different from when they started, but I don't feel like they really do enough to have really made those changes matter.

The story is Shinichi simply trying to figure out what to do with Migi, and later when he accepts him, how to stop the other parasites. A lot of the good parts in the show are when they do the battles and they work together to overcome obstacles that individually they would have difficulties with. There are sub plots too and quite a few devastating moments to move the story along. But the show does mainly become about beating the big boss parasite.

I think Parasyte was a good show that kind of squandered what it could have been. It has a decent pair for a main that gets some development, good action, and enough tense moments to keep you covered. But doesn't go that extra step to really put it among the greats imo.

81. Gugure! Kokkuri-san
https://myanimelist.net/anime/23251/Gugure_Kokkuri-san

Legend has it if you call out to the fox ghost, Kokkuri he will. To be honest I don't quite remember, but that's not really important. What is important is that instead of doing whatever he was supposed to do when he was called he instead sees that Kohina (a self proclaimed doll) is unfit to live alone and takes it upon himself to be her guardian.

Kokkuri-san is almost purely a comedy. There is little in the way of story and there is no real character development. Each character has their own gimmick. Kohina's being that she really likes instant noodles. The character interactions themselves are great. The show is funny for sure and if you want some good laughs you should watch this.

No more to say. This will live or die based on how much you like the gags in the show. It's not the funniest show on this list and the earlier episodes are stronger than the latter ones. But Kokkuri has type of humor that is unique to the show.

80. One Week Friends
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21327/Isshuukan_Friends

One Week Friends is a show that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. If you've ever seen like A tale of memories you know some of the basis premise. A guy wants to befriend a girl but the girl loses her memories after a period of time, in this case a week.

This is going to be another short one as the entire plot is basically in the premise. It's Hase trying to be friends with Kaori and once that happens dealing with the struggles of her unique condition. The show has a good mix of drama and comedy and it doesn't overextend on either front. It's not a laugh out loud show and it's not a huge tearjerker either. The real factor is that character seem to act in a genuine manner and the show has a level of "this is how things would be in real life" type feel that is rare.

There's a pretty decent amount of character development, mostly spurred on by the characters learning about each other, and in many cases, relearning. There is a level of mixed happiness and sadness in each scene which the anime capitalizes on several times.

If you're looking for a strong romance, or even a heart throbbing drama this is not for you. This show is very simple and doesn't have many thrills. But uses its simplicity for the best.

79. Hanayamata
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21681/Hanayamata

Yosakoi is a type of dance that originated in Japan. Because Japan (and several eastern counties) are often cited to be deeply rooted in old traditions it might be surprising to find out that the dance is a relatively recent invention. Naru didn't have any idea what it was at all until she meets a mysterious blond named Hana who wants to start her own yosakoi dance team.

The show's title, Hanayamata takes the first few letters of each of the characters name. It's basically a cute girls doing cute things show with the "focus" being the yasakoi. Like all shows of this type each girl has their own personalities and quirks. The main issue is that their memorability as individuals falls a little flat. That's not to say there are not factors that make them different from each other. Each of them has their own back story and reasoning to join the team. This development is mostly done in individual arcs for each character are pretty welcome as it's rare in these anime. However, it does sometimes feel like after each one is done we just forget about them.

What really sets the show apart for me is the production levels. Just watching the show is great because of the art work, music, presentation. IMO this is a good example of technical attributes pulling up a show that is still above average on other fronts and making them seem even better.

If I recall this show had a pretty well to do team on it, and it shows.

Finally another show I've seen!

I didn't really like this one though, as I think I already said recently in the main anime topic. Nothing in the show really got me attached to the characters, and also I found the blonde girl's personality pretty grating. I may just be at the stage where I'm getting far less patient with anime tropes in general though so idk.

78. Noragami Aragoto
https://myanimelist.net/anime/30503/Noragami_Aragoto

Aragoto is the second season of Noragami. It mainly focuses on Bishamon, a god of war who is often at odds with series protagonist, Yato. The season explores more of their character and some of the small hints that were tossed in during the first one.

To start off, there is very little relation to the first season. In fact, you only have to see a handful of scenes from it to understand season 2. That said, I would still watch season 1 even though I don't consider it to be quite as good (it's still good). The main difference is that S1 was mainly a comedy with some dramatic elements and S2 is a drama with some comedic elements. The latter works much better in this case as the dramatic elements in S1 were rather cringe worthy. The comedic stuff in S2 seems like basic comic relief. It's never as funny, but is more a welcome change of place.

The story is actually pretty decent. The first half is undoubtedly the stronger of the two arcs though. Bishamon gets significant character development. Mainly because we knew nothing about her back in S1 and now we have a pretty complete picture of who she is. In fact, it's mostly side characters from S1 who get it as there is not a whole lot more to do with the main cast overall.

If you've seen S1 and liked it there is little reason not to watch S2. If you've seen neither I'd suggest you check it out. It's a fairly easy anime to get into and despite some question marks it remains to be a fairly well developed anime.

77. Bakuon!!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/30795/Bakuon

This is another cute girls doing cute things show. This time it has motorcycles. It follows along 4 (later 5) girls as they go on what are basically motorcycle road trips together and stuff. What differentiates this from other moe type anime (besides that there is a talking motorcycle) is that there is a higher level of ecchi content than normal. It doesn't always show a lot of skin but the show knows how to fully extend its apparent pg13ish rating to do things not even some uncensored atx anime broadcasts can successfully do.

The five girls in the show are surprisingly enjoyable. One of them has frizzy hair, she's great. Also, Celty's sister is in the show. There is no character development besides Hane (the main girl) like getting better at motorcycling but that's not the point of the show. Oh, there is also a rich girl who has her butler drive everywhere since she doesn't have a license.

There is no story. But the comedic segments are often over the top. It has some of the funniest skits of the year it aired with some of the best ones being like the Bike Jesus and the Spurned Wife (or ex or something), and the motorcycle race. There are also those ecchi scenes like the hot springs and motorcycle washing ones. It's a show with a lot of good highlights for anime fans with very few lulls.

I think the art is important enough to talk about here. Bakuon is no where near what I'd call "good" the overall designs do make all the girls look very attractive, another thing that is rare within this genre. They just give off more of a sexy type vibe.

Bakuon is not for everyone and there are a LOT of better shows within a genre that has become pretty oversaturated but if you want something that is a little different than what you'd normally get and don't mind ample amounts of fan service, give it a go.

76. Dimension W
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31163/Dimension_W

If there was a recent anime that has that 90s type feel to it more akin to stuff like 90s trinity of Bebop, Outlaw Star, and Trigun you have Dimension W. It's a sci-fi action show packed with great music and good use of its CG effects.

It should not come to anyone's surprise that Dimension W was quickly picked up by Toonami. It is easily one of the shows that screams in appealing to a western audience and therefore I recommend this to new anime viewers overall. The story is simply that the characters are searching for coils (valuable forms of technology) for their own reasons. The starting episodes are all very disconnected basically they just give you the tone of the anime, but later on they start to pull things together. I will say that they might try to do a little too much in the time it was given.

The cast is fairly large but almost none of the characters are actually important. Kyouma gets the majority of the development and most of the story involves him. Mira is another character that has a good deal of focus, but her own personal growth seems outshone by simply the story revelations about her. Regardless together they are a decent duo and the level of depth that Kyouma gets is fairly impressive.

Overall I think Dimension W is a good watch. There are various parts in it where I thought to myself "this show could become a classic." After finishing it I don't think it's quite there, but the show is pretty much well above average in almost every aspect for this type of anime.

75. Dagashi Kashi
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31636/Dagashi_Kashi

"Do you like boobs?" That is the question of the season asked by esteemed dagashi expert, Hotaru Shidare. Of course by boobs she meant a type of snack that kind of looks like a boob. Dagashi Kashi is a comedy anime that revolves around cheap Japanese snacks aka dagashi.

When I was a kid I went to a candy shop. I never had a lot of money so I'd get this cheap budget candy from like side shops from various places. Dagashi Kashi is basically a giant commercial for candy. Or a documentary? I don't know, something like that. This is a show I think a lot of people unfairly judge because they can't relate to candy. I understand most of this is heavily cultured based candy but I never thought that was the focus of the show. Like yeah they are used in all of the skits as like part of the punch line, but knowing what the candy is is never important to understanding the significance of what is happening in the scene.

I say all that but there is a lot of history about each candy, stuff even I, someone who has gotten to eat a lot of this stuff, only care mildly about. That said the history of it does tie into some of the jokes, but they do a decent job in explaining it so you don't have a reason to be lost. I do admit even if I was a native Japanese person who ate this stuff all the time... I don't think I'd care about it.

The "plot" of the show is Hotaru Shidare. She loves dagashi and is crazy, not just about dagashi... just crazy. She is basically a carry for the show and it would be much less enjoyable without her. But the other two characters in Saya and Kokonotsu (Coconuts) are also highly entertaining characters within the confines of this anime.

Probably among the most appealing factors is the art style. Turns Hotaru, a character that would probably just be kind of average in other anime into like a reason not to take your eyes off the screen. In any case Dagashi Kashi is a nice comedy that mixes decent laughs with those moments where you question the sanity of the main characters.

74. Inari, Konkon, Koi Iroha.
https://myanimelist.net/anime/20457/Inari_Konkon_Koi_Iroha

Inari Kon Kon is a light romance anime. It features supernatural elements and I'd consider it a feel good type show. It's pretty hard to talk about since one of the primary story points that really makes the show more interesting is a pretty big spoiler. The show itself is about Inari, a girl who has a normal girl crush, but one day she rescues a baby fox who happens to be a spirit. Now she has the power to change form. How will she use her new powers?

I say light romance because there are romance elements, but there is not too much depth in it. Like there is not that much relationship grooming, a lot of it is more Inari finding herself. The show can almost be considered to be set of like moral obstacles and lessons that our characters have to overcome. Simple things like friendship, sacrifice, and overcoming fear while being presented with supernatural type twits, can feel very close to home.

The characters themselves are a little dramatic. There is a level of melodrama I didn't really expect in this show, but it's limited and kind of makes sense. Characters express emotions at good moments for them. The cast itself is small but a number of them gets decent development, including the mains. Inari herself is a middle school girl and acts like one, there is a definite level of maturity that she gains throughout the show. While not all the characters get such growth, they are not neglected.

The real downer of the show is the length. It's only 10 episodes and while it does explore a lot of good things it can't really expand on any of them. Some of the relationships seem like they were not cultivated enough to seem meaningful to the viewer. However, don't let that dissuade you from watching this show more episodes would have just made it even better than it already is.

73. Blue Spring Ride
https://myanimelist.net/anime/21995/Ao_Haru_Ride

Blue Spring Ride is a romantic comedy of the shoujo variety. It has a simple premise where our two main characters had a mutual, if unsaid, connection towards one each other. Now they reunite a couple of years later, but life and personal choices have drastically changed them. Will they growth close again, or has love come and gone?

The show starts more as a comedy but as time goes on it gets more melodramatic. Not for like the sake of it, but more as we learn more about the characters the more the story calls for it. There is a build up to the moment where the show stops being romantic comedy and just becomes one of those dramas you expect your girlfriend to drag you to. I'd complain about this, but this is a fairly common thing that a lot of shows (including one that is going to be very highly ranked) do. Have to finish up the story somehow.

The only two characters worth mention are the mains. Futaba was originally a very girly girl, but in typical girl fashion other girls were jealous of her and she was shut out. Now, she changed her look simply in the ability to make new friends. It seems like a dumb anime plot thing, but it's one of several points of realism the show tackles. Kou, originally a nice and friendly kid has become distant and reserved. Part of the show is simply Futaba having to regain the trust of someone who she thought she knew.

There is still the typical romance stuff you should expect in an anime. I'd say this is the first show I'd call an actual romance that has appeared on this list. This is a strong entry into the genre so I suggest you give it a go. Like most school romance types all you need is an appreciation for some teen type drama/romance.

72. Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
https://myanimelist.net/anime/16524/Suisei_no_Gargantia

Taking place in the distant future, a young man named Ledo has found himself on a mysterious planet not charted on his maps (Note I don't actually recall if this is right, but I'm pretty sure it is). It is fully covered in ocean. I don't think it's a spoiler to say that the planet is Earth (because what other planet would this be? This is not like the most original show). In any case now cut off from this team Ledo must work with new found allies as what's hidden beneath is about to come up to pay them a visit.

Probably the most compelling reason to watch this title is the art work. It is one of the most stunning shows in a visual sense that has aired for its year. In a way it really helps the soft level fan service the show has. Not only the visuals though but the audio quality in terms of the soundtrack is also very strong. If you want a show that clearly has good production values and uses a very strong mix of classic and 3d animation this is a good show to pick up.

Ledo, the main character, basically experiences a drastic change as he is transported to a world that is not only foreign to him in landscape (or lack there of) but in culture and ideals. He has to learn things that many of us take for granted. In a way it's like of like Sousuke Sagara from Full Metal Panic, only Ledo was made to be changed into someone who adapted and for Sousuke that's like part of his character that makes him popular. That said, a lot of the other characters are just kind of there. A lot of them nice to look at yeah, but besides like stock personalities a lot of them are really just there to teach Ledo different lessons. The other character though worth mentioning is Chamber. An AI robot that is essentially Ledo's partner.

The show has a lot more promise early on but still is a worthwhile watch even if it's just for the production quality and some of the easy on the eyes characters. It has a decent main character and some interesting plot development later on.

71. My Hero Academia (S1)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31964/Boku_no_Hero_Academia

I'd say that My Hero Academia is the worst pure shounen show to appear on this list. I'm assuming this is one of the more well known ones too that I've covered. If you're not in the know, the show is about a group of kids who have what the calls "quirks" special abilities that are used to help people and fight villains, or those who use their quirks for evil. One kid, Izuku Midoriya has always dreamed of being a hero like his idol, All Might. But when he discovers he is quirkless, does it end his dreams?

Okay, I'll answer that. Obviously he gets a quirk. It would be interesting to have a story about a character without powers fighting using his brain and planning to beat villains (something that Midoriya does) but we can leave batman alone. A lot of the first season is him just getting to grips with his new quirk and controlling it. In fact, he has almost none and using it puts him at great risk. It's almost annoying that we don't see this until the second season (which right now is bordering on a 10/10 show). But as a character Deku is simple in his resolve but the show clearly shows the effort and passion he has. The rest of the cast all has their own personalities and a bunch of them even get some decent back story and development too. My favorite one though is the frog girl, Tsuyu.

Like all shounen the story is presented in arcs like training, school stuff, villains, etc. Each one builds off the last and the students need to use what they've learned before to overcome new obstacles. I guess the first season is a by the numbers type show but it has extremely good execution in what it does. If you're on the fence about this, don't be though because S2 has been amazing since episode 1. Worth a pick up even if you're not an anime fan.

Academia S1 was pretty obviously shounen-y straightforward and Deku himself was predictable but I actually liked S1 a bunch (but didnt super love) it because it actually developed or made side characters do cool things

It kinda felt like Naruto during the Chuunin Exams part (aka when it was still good)

All Might being GAR a f helped a lot. I love mentor types like him

70. Amanchu!
https://myanimelist.net/anime/31771/Amanchu

Amanchu is an easy going slice of life anime in a sub genre more commonly known as iyashikei (healing). It focuses heavily on aesthetics and simple character goals. It has some comedy and small levels of dramatic elements, but it's clear they are not major focuses. If you've seen shows like Aria you should find plenty of similarities due to overall style as they are directed and created by the same pair.

There is not really a story but if anything it's about Futaba as she makes friends and learns to swim. I think that one thing the anime does very well is it establishes point of view. The entire show seems like it's filtered through her. She's not even always the central character, Hikari often steals the spotlight in her scenes, but it's because Futaba herself feels the strength of HIkari's personality herself.

The characters themselves are fun to watch. Futaba gets the majority of the development and it often feels like the viewer is meant to grow along with her. Hikari (aka Pikari) acts as like the shows anchor or guide that allows things to come together. There is also a great deal of chibi faces in the anime. If you've seen aria you know what this is, but there are A LOT MORE OF THEM.

Amanchu is a simple show. If you want something on almost the exact opposite end of the spectrum of a lot of the big mainstream shows out there this is a decent place to start overall.

69. Nisekoi
https://myanimelist.net/anime/18897/Nisekoi

Nisekoi or False Love is a romantic comedy. As far as modern ones goes it's one of the more well known shows. Raku has a locket but no key. It was said that his promised girl is the one who holds the key to the locket. However, he has concrete idea on who it might be.

This write up is about both seasons and they are very different. The first season is more a classic love triangle romcom. There is a lot of focus on Raku spending time with both of the main girls (Chitoge and Onodera) and trying to inch closer to who the promised girl is. Chitoge is the tsundere and Onodera is the childhood friend. The title comes up as Raku and Chitoge are in a fake relationship to symbolize the peace between the two rival gangs in Japan. Obviously enough they don't like each other at the start.
The second season is mainly a comedy. It doesn't progress the story at all and people are going to be upset about that but the I think it's overall a strong season if you no longer consider it to be a romance anymore.

As far as the characters go, I think Chitoge's is especially one of the stronger ones in terms of how she's written. While she is clearly a tsundere she shows signs of being a caring person very early on and not in the suddenly become shy or embarrassed copout type ways. While if you've watched one or more of these anime you'll know that she does actually like Raku at a certain point, the show does a good job at establishing the what I think are not reflected in my actions type. I want to say things about Onodera too, but those involve spoilers.

The first season is a good rom com, but without the level of closure or ultimately the fleshed out cast that is going to bring it up to a level like Toradora. The second season is an incredible comedy but is going to put off people who wanted closure for season 1 (it's not close to closure).

68. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
https://myanimelist.net/anime/33255/Saiki_Kusuo_no_%CE%A8-nan_TV

Saiki K is a series of shorts of five minutes each that were combined each week into a episodic formats. So it technically does not actually qualify for this list but it's my list and I doubt anyone here saw this in its original format anyway. It's about Saiki Kusuo, a teenager with psychic ability, but he's showing us how they are more a curse than a blessing.

As far as pure comedies go, this is probably the funniest show I've seen since Nichijou. Right off what holds it back though is that the characters lack the same appeal overall. Don't get me wrong the characters are really funny, like the magician who is constantly bailed out by Saiki's powers and every time he exclaims "AMAZING". Or the Chuuni who fucking follows Saiki everywhere. The main thing is all the character are really jokes in themselves.

Like I said the comedy is great and very consistent overall. It has jokes that hit right away and some that take the entire skit. However, it doesn't have like that single scene that you're really going to remember. Instead characters basically have their own running gags that make up most of the jokes.

Besides that nothing else too it. No real story or anything or real character development. This was a huge surprise for the season it aired and I think everyone can like this show no matter what genres they like.

67. Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited - Hyoubu Kyousuke
https://myanimelist.net/anime/16005/Zettai_Karen_Children__The_Unlimited_-_Hyoubu_Kyousuke

This is a spin off of Zettai Karen Children, but it has little real connection. Much like Tokyo ESP to Garei zero. Thankfully this show is much better than Tokyo ESP. It does share a similarity where it is about ESPers. In this case they are led by the title character, who wants to protect other ESPers and put a stop to the humans who mistreat them.

If you think Hyoubu's character sounds like Mageneto... you're right. There are differences though, Magneto is often clearly a villain where Hyoubu take the role of antihero. He gets significant development through flashbacks and the present time story. An interesting note is that Hyoubu is indeed the bad guy in the original work. The other characters worth noting are Yuugiri, kind of like the "bonding element" for the other characters and Andy Hinomiya a character with the ability to negate esper powers.

Overall the structure of the show is similar to what you'll see in Darker Than Black as the overall concepts are very similar. In the end this show deals with some more moral gray areas that DTB and I think had a higher ceiling, but DTB overall has a better cast and a much more fleshed out world. Being a spin off does tend to hurt this show in that regard.

This is a very good show that have no real reasons not to be picked up if you're looking to watch a short action type series. It's easy to get into and is very western friendly overall.

I enjoyed Prison School for a little while, not the strongest comedy but it did some really horrible things in a funny manner.

Danmachi had an interesting setting, but just wasn't set around the right characters. Neither lead was particularly great (meaning Bell/Aiz, not dissing Hestia or anything, but she'd be better if she had someone better to interact with).

AoKana... my friend forced me to watch it with him since he liked the VN... and forced me to sit through his salt about the ost, but I forced him to sit through me complaining about all the female characters because the main one I liked was... well the villain, basically. Granted, if that sport could exist in this world I would love to try it out so much.

Keijo is something no one wants to hear my opinion on anymore, I had a stupid rant that doesn't even matter. Screw people making it a sport.

Dropped Kokkuri-san after a while, gimmicks got kinda stale.

One Week Friends was... I usually hate amnesia stuff but I enjoyed it up till the ending arc.

I watched Noragami and felt a little bad about not continuing to Aragoto immediately until...
KokoroAkechi posted...
To start off, there is very little relation to the first season.

Thank god. I kinda forgot huge chunks of the first season. Guess I can still watch Aragoto without rewatching the first season.

Dimension W had some good, had some bad. Didn't leave the best impression but it didn't leave a bad one, I liked it in a sense.

Dropped MHA and Amanchu pretty quickly. Amanchu for the reason anyone dropped it for, MHA because of salty reasons. hated the whole Protag not having a quirk and honestly him inheriting All-Might isn't gonna make it up for me.

Nisekoi was trash :)

66. Girlish Number
https://myanimelist.net/anime/32607/Giarlish_Number

Girlish Number is a slice of life comedy drama. It's a little about voice acting, but more about the story of Chitose Karasuma, a high nosed girl who overestimates her talent. However, as she sees others start to surpass her her reaction and outlook on life starts to change.

To start with, Girlish number has one of the best overall character development arcs for a main on this list in Chitose. She still is probably not a "good person" but her growth and change as a character based on others around her and the circumstances is the most compelling part of the show. You go from wishing she'd stay in a ditch to legitimately rooting for her to succeed. The rest of the cast is also reasonably strong, but don't really get the same development emphasis.

There is no story really beyond Chitose's change overall. The show has good production values with the art work being strikingly vibrant and the vocal team top knotch. More of a niche title, but one the right audience will really appreciate.

65. My Little Monster
https://myanimelist.net/anime/14227/Tonari_no_Kaibutsu-kun

When a very smart but socially reserved girl (Shizuku Mizutani) meets a brash delinquent (Haru Yoshida) and the first thing that happens is a type of confession Shuzuku doesn't know how to take it. MLM is a shoujo rom/com that honestly does not really break too much outside of the norm but has a strong level of "things that work together" for the show.

The core of the show are the two characters. It's good that they are easily likable for their types. Shizuku is the one that the viewer is supposed to connect with more as she is the more passive and traditionally distant type. This of course is assuming the viewer is female (this is a shoujo) but I'd guess overall she's easily to relate to than Haru who is like someone you look to as almost someone you want to be like in a lot of cases. A big thing about the show is that all the characters are pretty weird in their own right, a little too much so to be normal "chock it up to being teenagers" type but not enough where it becomes like some sort of looney tunes show.

Unfortunately the show does have somewhat a lack of romance. There is some there but comedy is clearly the key. The interactions between the characters are very funny and it makes the few romantic moments have a nice mix of being awkward, sweet, and funny. There is a lack of back story and the show is really a lot of "in the moment" type things.

I think this is a good show overall. If you're new to the genre this is actually a show I'd suggest you start at as it is not overly bashing your head with a lot of the extreme shoujo feel that others might have. Still more comedy than romance but it has fun characters and a good feel to it.
